Guest guest
Oh Veri, I'm so sorry to hear that is having these raging ear infections. Those are never fun (my second and third kiddos have a tendency to have EI's without complaining of pain - my oldest gets the quick onset severe pain...). Given that she has the extraction coming up soon, has your ped or your rheum said anything about seeing an ENT? My very uneducated wondering is if she's having the EI's because of the swelling in the eustachian tubes from the disease. Maybe an ENT would have had some experience in helping kids with JRA over come this? Just a thought. My hopes and prayers for a quick recovery for her. Hugs. Sharon (, 18 months old, systemic) > > > Ok, Jaye has been battling the cough/cold for about 8 weeks now. I am just about tired of it!!!! Last week she came in and said her ear was bothering her and yep, sure enough she has an ear infection. Now five days later she said Mom I can not hear at all out of my ear and it hurts worse. So last night, sure enough the ped said the ear infection was really bad, I mean really bad. Now Jaye generally does not complain about ear infections, not sure why but they can be really angry red without her knowing they are infected. Well this one is bad cause it hurts. So last night she took percocet cause that is all I have for pain here and today, tomorrow and Wednesday we are going to take her in to get an injection of antibiotic to try to kick this. The ped thought three days in a row should kick it. Last night when we had the ped check it we were at church, only one of the major bonus of going to church with the ped. She has only seven more days of school this year and then is out for the summer. She is getting her wisdom teeth extracted on May 25th. SHE MUST BE HEALTHY FOR THAT!!!!! > > Veri & Jaye 17 poly > > > > > >

Guest guest
So sorry she is still sick! I second the idea of seeing an ENT...it can't hurt to get another opinion. I know we have had the crud here for weeks (except ..thank you God). My daughter (non-JIA child) has been sick for 3 weeks now and is still coughing/sniffling after 8 days on antibiotics...and 4 weeks of zyrtec. My hubby has had bronchitis for 6 weeks...2 rounds of antibiotics. Me, I'm going into week three...cough, crud, fluid in my ears...and my allergies are raging...I'm on day 4 of antibiotics for a sinus infection. I am blaming allergies...last night on the news they said this is the worst allergy ever and I agree...and I've suffered since I can remember and this is the worst. I hope she starts feeling better very soon! & , 7.5, poly, nystagmus...SPD Sent from my iPhone
Guest guest
It took me 2 shots of Rocephin a week a part to finally get over double ear infections, during when I had mono. Guest guest
Poor sweet Jaye, she came in this morning brave as can be and received two more shots of rocephin and will come back tomorrow morning to get two more. Those needles and HUGE and today she said she thought she might pass out after the first injection. So there was a pause before they gave the second one. When the nurse asked her if she was ok, she said " Yep, I'm a tough cookie " . I told her she is a better one then me. I also have an ear infection that wont quit and am on my second round of antibiotics but I am not allergic to all that she is and so I have more options. Then she was out the door to head to school, only six more days of classes for her this year and then she can take a break. She is ready for summer vacation and good weather. Me too!!! Guest guest
Hi Veri, Oh, so sorry that Jaye is dealing with this in the last days of school! She certainly is a tough cookie - and it's cool that she told them that! I hope the infection resolves very quickly and that she will enjoy her last few days of school 'til summer. nn > > > Poor sweet Jaye, she came in this morning brave as can be and received two more shots of rocephin and will come back tomorrow morning to get two more.
