Guest guest
Hello All, I am very excited to announce that my husband and I are expecting our first baby! We found out in January and I am just about 12 weeks now. Our baby should be here between the 3rd-8th of October (my OB does not give an day rather a window of when the baby should come). So far everything looks great. I had to go off of the Humira immediately when I found I was pregnant. My rheumy is just not comfortable with her patients who are pregnant staying on it. I actually had to agree with her there. I have never had a problem weighing the benefits of the medication against the possible side effects I could face but I realized that I did have a problem with the possible side effects it might cause my baby. It's bad enough I have to take these medications, this little baby should not have to. At this point I am on no medication (other than a prenatal vitamin and an anti-nausea medicine to help with my morning [psshh all day] sickness) although my rhuemy did say that in the event a flare occurred we would come up with an alternative treatment plan that is safe during pregnancy. For the most part I am doing well, though this last week I have had an increase in swelling, pain and stiffness, I am feeling better than I expected joint wise. All in all though I am beyond happy and excited! It's so nice to go to the doctor for something " normal " and exciting. I get to be a pregnant woman, granted I am a pregnant woman with JIA, but I am first and foremost a pregnant woman. It's a very exciting new chapter in my life!
