The Eighth Annual Score for Arthritis Street Hockey Tournament was run on

Saturday, April 30. There were 240 young players aged 7-18 playing in the

event.

The players with their sponsors raised $25,580.20, bringing the total to

$157,773.20 over the eight years. All of these funds go directly to Juvenile

Arthritis Research.

The chapter is so proud of these young people. They have a very enjoyable

day and at the same time they are helping children, who many days, are

unable to join in games.

Approximately one in 1,000 children under the age of 16 will suffer from

this chronic disorder.

Juvenile Arthritis causes stiff, swollen and often painful joints. Research

to date has not provided a cure, but has provided effective treatments.

The Parry Sound chapter of the Arthritis Society thanks the players, their

families and sponsors and local businesses for all of their support.

Also, all of the volunteers who come out each year to help.
