Guest guest
Maureen, Bradley is on Humira and just started getting this as well. I thought they were warts and when we went to the Rheumy, she informed us this was molloscum. She said that it should go away on its on or we could go see our Primary and have them use liquid nitrogen to take care of them but I didn't really want to subject Bradley to that! He's been through enough! So I don't have any real suggestions but just wanted to let you know it's pretty common. If anybody has any suggestions, I would be interested to hear them as well. Oh, and our middle son has gotten them too so we keep track of all clothing and most important, their bath towels so they don't share. marie Mommy to Bradley ( Oligo, ANA+, Uveitis) On Wed, May 25, 2011 at 3:35 AM, Maureen <mmurph102@...> wrote: > > > Hi, Have any of your kids had molloscum that you were successfully able to > get rid of? Guest guest
had them when he started Enbrel and we aggressively treated them. Initially the derm cut them off, then the beetle juice...which helped somewhat. Finally she used something stronger than the beetle juice...don't remember what it was called. She would apply it early in the morning and he had to leave it on for several hours...then we had to wash it off. I know his excema played a role in the spread of the MC as well...so we were treating that too Once we finally got the excema cleared...the MC stopped coming back. We were told because of his suppressed immune system it would take his body years to fight them off...something we weren't willing to wait out. I think it took about 6 or 7 months anyway. DS has been on Enbrel almost two years and after the initial bout of excema and MC, he has not had any issues with his excema. Something we battled his whole life... Good luck! & , almost 8, poly...nystagmus...SPD Sent from my iPhone
Guest guest
Funny---I just looked back at old posts and realized I posted about molloscum last summer---obviously, it hasn't gone away yet. I'm going to try another dermatologist! > > Hi, Have any of your kids had molloscum that you were successfully able to get rid of? My daughter, 8, who is on Enbrel has had it for over a year and a half now. I was hoping that it would be gone before this summer, as she is self conscious of it on her thighs in shorts/bathing suits. And now, it has spread to my younger daughter. We were seeing a derm. last year and he kept putting the " beetle juice " on the bumps. But after many, many months (and dollars), I realized, the spots that had the beetle juice would go away, but new ones would sprout up! She is on Enbrel, and I know that is suppressing her immune system....but any ideas/solutions are welcomed! > Thanks, > Maureen >
Guest guest
My 4 year old daughter is on Enbrel and has eczema and molloscum. We noticed the rashes about 6 months ago and started treatment with a dermatologist about 3 months ago. She's had the beetle juice treatment twice and it finally seems to be going away. The dermatologist also has us use Cerave cream (jar form - over the counter) on my daughter's skin twice a day to help prevent it from spreading...that seemed to do the trick. Our doctor told us that molloscum could go away in a few weeks or a few years. I kinda figured we'd be on the long side of that due to my daughter's medications but now I'm more optimistic that it is almost resolved. Best of luck! & (4 - Poly)
