Guest guest
Hi all, We gave the pneumonia vaccine yesterday (it's not a live vaccine) and about 24 hours later she started running a fever. The handout said that fever happens in 1% of the people who get the vaccine. She also has fairly painful muscle pain in that leg, also a 1% possibility side effect. We talked to the ped and the ped rheumy and both have said to not hold the Kineret shot tonight, or the Methotrexate shot tomorrow. The fever isn't high - it started at 99.3 after school and is now up to 100.6. But this is the first fever has had since starting Kineret back in September - believe it or not!! Has anyone here given their child the pneumonia vaccine and seen a similar side effect? Also, does anyone have any experience with vaccines triggering a flare - or worse, is there any worry about it triggering MAS in systemic? isn't acting very sick and it's probably just a " blip " as the rhuemy said and I pray she's fine in the morning. But it's hard not to worry. Once upon a time if either of my children had a low grade fever I looked at it as the body fighting off a virus - a good thing, a natural response. Things are so different now. Thanks much, nn (, 10, systemic)
