Guest guest
My son ran out of intron and pills 6 days before treatment and didn't want to have to order another box and just use 6 days worth so he quit early. We figured it didn't have to be EXACT, considering some months have 28-31 days! I hope you start feeling better soon.

I know that the human body has organs that it doesn't need to sustain life, e.g., appendix, uterus, parts of the intestines. IF there is no other medical option, couldn't they remove them and relieve some of the crowding? I know that this sounds awfully drastic, but perhaps it would prolong her life. Also, what about bottled oxygen? It seems (once again, I'm ignorant here) that if she were receiving more O2 in each breath, that it would relieve some of the strain on her heart and lungs, which you say is causing them to enlarge. Before doing anything, though, I'd consult one of the doctors listed on the LPA site and see what options he can offer. luthien
Guest guest
Dear -- I am not a doctor, and by no means an expert, either. But I can't believe you don't have some options. First, you don't say what kind of dwarfism your daughter has. Does she have a diagnosis? I for one would be very curious to know -- and I'll be there are people on this list who might be able to help you if they knew, too. But -- far more important -- I *know* that there are people whose ribcages are too small and who have had surgery so that their lungs and heart are not squeezed the way your daughter's are. I want you to promise all of us something. Below is the link to the LPA Medical Advisory Board. Call or e-mail Dee at s Hopkins as soon as you can. Your daughter's problem sounds very serious but not insurmountable. http://www.lpaonline.org/resources_medboard.html I am cc'ing this to the LPA executive office and to Dee so there is no possibility that your note gets lost in the shuffle. Thank you for writing! And good luck! Let us know what happens. Guest guest
Here in San , there is a Doctor (Dr ) who implants titanium ribs. it is called, appropriately, the Titatium Rib Project. He operates on many children with Spina Bifida and other problems who need accomodation. To be truthful, I don't have all of the specifics. But I know that he has performed surgery on several LP's, (he is an orthopedist), and is probably the only person in the world performing this surgery. Secondly, I don't know who your doctor is, or where you live, but I would *strongly* suggest getting in touch with a physician that has considerable experience in dwarfism. We take our son to Wilmington, DE to see Dr SCott, a geneticist, and Dr Mackenzie, an orthopedist at DuPont. If you cannot travel, Dr will look at x-rays. But do what you need to do to make sure that your daughter is seeing someone who is knowledgable. Please let myself and the list know what progress that you make... in San TX mominbusiness wrote: > I am very blessed to have a daughter that is a little person. Guest guest
Hi friend:), I hope you find the help you are seeking. When I down South this year only to return North recently, Swati's post reminds me of a similiar yet different story of a female Vietnamese lady who told me of a younger cousin of hers, still in their homeland, of how she too is an lp like me. She did the best she could in explaining to me all about her younger cousin and I did the best I could in trying to understand her as well, because the language barrier between was vast with her having just moved here from Vietnam and my knowing only English:(. She told me how this female cousin of hers, besides small of stature was also very poor, so poor that her family could not afford a wheelchair, and that she attended her high school classes on the shoulders on another cousin who was in the same grade:(. We left that convo to pick it up the next time I saw her at a business where she worked and where I frequented. Upon talking more I then discovered that this cousin of hers and her being in high school was almost 20 years ago, and she was no longer 16 or so, she was now like 34 or more. But then again, that was OK as I understood the language barrier between us was immense, so either I misunderstood her the first time around or I did understand her correctly and she just said it wrong. Still, to me it was OK regardless:). So, I said I would look into maybe a group such as ours, or even a separate from us medical group in the US that helps people from foreign countries get temporary medical Visas, to seek medical attention and/or surgery. Unfortunately, I didn't find any... but I did not also spend a lot of time researching this matter, as for one I was on vacation and two, I was without a home computer. However:), I do see the day when the LPA or at least some members in it and on their own too doing the folling, that is, if both-the group and some individuals are already not doing it(?), doing what the family did in the following article, which was previously posted on here and is now re-posted for you all as it touches on the subject at hand:). http://www.napavalleyregister.com/articles/2008/07/10/news/local/doc48 75a5dae05e3913844720.txt I also see the day when the LPA and/or again those in it as individuals hosting a exchange student lp from another country. No, nt just any exchange student but specifically an lp student like themselves from across the pond and beyond! And that would be cool, my friends!! So, Swati, again I hope you find the help you are seeking:). Right now, it's past my physical and even monetary ability to help you personally, but I am certain you will receive positive responses and solutions from others in our group which is also yours:). welcome my friend:), grady Hello friendz! I'm Swati from India. I'm a dwarf.I'm 4feet 2inch in height. I'm 20 years old. I can't walk on my own.I walk with the help of crutches. I have got some problem with my hips joint. The bones are not proper, maybe brittle. Many Indian Doctors has suggested me for hips joint replacement surgery. But those doctors are not sure that after operation I'll be able to walk without crutches. They say it is difficult. Some doctors say it's not possible. I'm in trouble. I'm confused. So friendz, if you know any good orthopaedic doctor in your country or any other country, please let me know... And if you know any dwarf who has got same problem like me.. please contact me. Reply soon... Thank You... You guys, Take care! From: Swati, India
Guest guest
The package insert of this vaccine clearly states that the recipients should avoid close contact with immunocompromised individuals for at least 21 days. See report from Dr. Sherri Tenpenny http://www.y2khealthanddetox.com/flumist.html Apart from refusing the vaccine and challenge them in court if need be, your son should try to get a medical exemption since if given the vaccine he would severely compromise his son's immune system even further. Also see http://www.squidoo.com/vaccinenews and http://www.newmediaexplorer.org/sepp/2003/12/11/flu_mist_anyone.htm FLU VACCINE FANTASIES DECEMBER 11. The following release is from Dawn at PROVE, Parents Requesting Open Vaccine Education. Actually, the release is longer. I’m reprinting an excerpt. In five paragraphs it gives you more than a whole range of mountains of crap printed by the mainstream media. “The new live virus vaccine (FLUMIST), which is squirted up the nose, was licensed by the FDA in June 2003 for use in healthy individuals between the ages of five and 50. It is not recommended for pregnant women or those with asthma, chronic lung or heart disease; chronic underlying medical conditions such as diabetes or kidney disorders; immune suppression or immune system problems; children or adolescents receiving aspirin therapy, anyone allergic to eggs; or those with a history of Guillain Barre syndrome. It should not be given simultaneously with other vaccines. ”FLUMIST's vaccine live virus is shed after vaccination so the vaccinated are advised to avoid close contact with immune compromised individuals for at least 21 days. Some hospital personnel are asking those recently vaccinated with FLUMIST to avoid visiting patients in hospitals to prevent the risk of transmitting the vaccine strain virus to sick patients. The most common reactions to the live flu vaccine are similar to the flu: runny nose, nasal congestion, cough, sore throat, headache, muscle aches, fever, chills, and weakness. ”The killed flu vaccine, which is injected, has historically been used in individuals over 60 years old who are at high risk for dying or becoming seriously ill during a bout with the flu. However, in recent years, the CDC has been asking all age groups to get an annual flu shot and now recommends that all healthy children older than 6 months of age get an annual flu shot. ”Contraindications for the killed flu vaccine are: fever, an impaired immune system, egg allergy, mercury allergy or a history of Guillain Barre syndrome. In the past, pregnancy was a contraindication but now the CDC recommends flu vaccine for women more than 14 weeks pregnant. However this recommendation is controversial since most flu vaccines still contain the mercury preservative, Thimerosal, and mercury has been associated with brain damage and developmental delays in fetuses whose mothers were exposed to high levels of mercury during pregnancy. ”The most common reactions to killed flu vaccine are fever, fatigue, painful joints and headache. The most serious reported reaction, which usually occurs within two weeks of vaccination, is Guillain Barre syndrome, an immune mediated nerve disorder characterized by muscle weakness, numbness, pain and paralysis.” So this is what you have to go through to get a vaccine that offers no particular protection against the flu. Marvelous. JON RAPPOPORT www.nomorefakenews.com Ingrid The United States Coast Guard which is now Homeland Security is telling my son he has to take the Flu Mist vaccine due to the pandemic threat, he told them he doesn't want to take it. They told him he would be discharged, his son has autism with mitrochondria issues and a compromised immune system. Shouldn't that be enough to qualify him for some kind of excemption? Guest guest
Hullo Sandi,... bit of reading for you is included in links. Shame on them for only giving him one day to prepare. This is the Flu pandemic scare, it is not the Flu, or a pandemic, or martial law. Its the common Flu for gawd sakes. Not anthrax, not small pox, not their rendition of their man-made revision of the 1918 Spanish Flu they are trying to frighten us with that wasnt even a flu that killed them, but a secondary virus, probably due to the introduction of Bayer's discovery of aspirin. Anyway, read all the following, print it, including the efficacy and danger of the FluMist package label insert. (see if there are any loopholes in the insert he could use). OR TO AT LEAST BUY HIM SOME MORE TIME to research and organize!!!! If he cant get exemption with religious, with printing out a religious exemption form, signing (notorized if necessisary) by tomorrow morning, I doubt he will be able to get any doctor to give him a permanent medical exemption by tomorrow morning.!!! Tell him to take all these articles. Print them. Have him tell them NO VACCINE, but he will take his Chances and is willing to keep his Rank and Position, and perform his job with the Coast Guard/Home Security. and do his duty without the FluMist vaccine, or any other vaccines. Let them do what they will, and threaten what they want. DOCUMENT THEIR RESPONSE to the TEE!!! Take a witness if necessary!!!! Then threaten to take action or to sue, if they try to go thru with any forced honorable or dishonerable discharge, OR ANY OTHER THREATS, OFFENSES OR CHARGES. If they still let him go, he will probably be one luckly duck to get away from their unethical intimidation and wrongful, illegal actions, of his Personal Rights and Freedoms. Guest guest
I'm sorry not to be able to offer much encouragement on this - I know a number of military families because we used to live near Norfolk, VA. I do know some of these families had exemptions or simply chose not to vaccinate their children; however, to the best of my knowledge, folks who are actually in the military have no choice - I hope to hear differently from other members of this list. However, my advice to you is that if you're going to find answers, they will be from folks in the military who have navigated this successfully. They must be out there. I would try getting in touch with the local La Leche League leaders where your son lives. They will not be able officially to tell you anything, but you might get something unofficial from them. They are often the best conduit to alternatives in any area, and they also tend to have a pretty high profile presence in military areas where military moms are home with children and nursing and needing support. Please let us know how you fare - it will be helpful to all.
Guest guest
I'd stall for time (take vacation days, whatever) and contact a lawyer? He may say you need not act on any directive unless it has been formalized, in writing. This might give you a leg to stand on , in the future (court, etc) > > The United States Coast Guard which is now Homeland Security is telling > my son he has to take the Flu Mist vaccine due to the pandemic threat, > he told them he doesn't want to take it. Guest guest
I have heard of: officers resigning their commissions to avoid anthrax shots; jet pilots whose whole immune system collapsed, requiring maintenance gamma globulin for the rest of their lives as well as ending their careers.I don't think the military takes to commands being questioned very well BUT in the situation you mentioned, I think the doctors might consider allowing a killed virus flu injection, perhaps even preservative-free, rather than one that would put a family member at risk.I used to be an Army dependent and we had lots of shots.Peace,Kathy E.On Sep 4, 2008, at 10:04 AM, Theresa wrote:However, my advice to you is that if you're going to find answers, they will be from folks in the military who have navigated this successfully.
