Krissy,

This is not something we have had to deal with so I can offer no hope---only

compassion and prayers. I hope you find some answers soon.

Hello to all the new comers !

Hi ! to everyone else. I  haven't posted lately it's been really crazy.

We received devastating news Friday at Emmie's eye appointment. She now has

Cataracts in her left eye. I was soo upset with her Dr. It was our decision not

to switch her meds until after the hurricanes and now we can't beleive this is

happening. I e-mailed Dr.. and is awaiting his response. I knew this could

happen I didn't think NOW>>>>

Her Dr was upset, but 3 weeks ago when we went she said her vision was 20/20, no

inflammation but she was struggling. Now she wants to stop her Pred Forte.. Can

this happen this fast???????? ???

Any advice.. I'm soo upset I've cried all weekend. My only hope is PRAYER!!

Sincerely,

Krissy (Emmie- 6 1/2yr- systemic JRA/Uveitis/ Cataracts , Landen- 2 1/2yr- ana

positive, Olivia 16 months)

Krissy - I'm really sorry to read that Emmie now has cataracts!

Grant has one too. When we first found this out a little over a

year ago we were devasted too. The good news is that it hasn't

affected his vision and the doctor has assured us that it is so

slight that it shouldn't ever be a problem. Hopefully that is the

case of Emmie's.

I'm confused by this statement,

" but 3 weeks ago when we went she said her vision was 20/20, no

inflammation but she was struggling "

How is she struggling? Once Grants eye inflammation was controlled

by MTX, we then started to taper the drops, very slowly. I agree

that she needs to get off of the Pred Forte but I think it is very

dangerous to go cold turkey and not taper them.

I really hope that Dr will help you. He certainly has calmed

me down on more than one occasion even though we haven't been to see

him. I can fully relate to how frustrating Uveitis is, especially

when you don't have full confidence in your ped opth. We have an

appt next monday and I've already started worrying about it. Grant

is in a good place right now with his eyes but we both now how

quickly that can change.

Hang in there, and keep us posted!
