I never had it, but my mom did at age 4, and it was pretty severe. She

had a fever of 105 practically every day for several days, then ended up

with scarlet fever, and yes, they feared for her life for several days.

All in all she was sick for about a month. She was a chubby, healthy

kid before that but her legs were just sticks when it was over and she

never really gained it back (until menopause, hahaha). Her mother

thought her allergy trouble started after that.

I know this story very well because my mom tells it when I complain

about the MMR!

My mom was sick for months too.....but she is ANTI VACCINE

How old is your mom?

Children can be quite ill with this but there are many factors that aren't

talked about and allopaths did nothing about

Measles depletes VITAMIN A and many are already depleted when they get

it.......and many complications due to that

Also there is homeopathy but allopathy ran it out on a rail in the early

and middle 1900's so all anyone had was allopathy and they don't have a

clue and don't want you to even look at homeopathy

And if the rash is slow to come out children have more complications, so

those that knew did all they could to get the rash to come out....hot baths

(and homeopathy can do that)

And the reality of the story may be different than the memory at age 4

Amy, she lived and is just fine, isn't she?

How many others of us have posted how fine we are and everyone else we know.

Everyone has got to let go of fear of this........fear will eat you alive

My mother has told me that she had measles at least 3 times as a child...

I'm guessing different forms of it. She also had scarlet fever... not

sure if they were related or not... and obviously, she survived just

fine... having 5 children herself... and she barely ever brought us to

the doctor.

Scarlet fever is the one that worries me. My grandad had heart valve damage

from it and died in his late 70's because of this. My brother also caught it

and has the same heart valve damage which they say will require surgery to fix.

Does everybody get heart damage or is there a way to prevent that?

Are you sure the heart damage is from scarlet fever? Or is it possible that

it is hereditary? How old was your grandad when he caught it? It sounds

like he still lived a full life. Late 70's is nothing to sneeze at.

He had it very young (under 5). My brother did too. Both were told by Dr. that

this is what caused the damage. Of course, this would't be the first time a Dr.

was wrong. Don't report me to the AMA. LOL

Yes, you never know

Some of these diseases are hard to distinguish from each other without

blood tests

Many of the 'measles' you hear of in the UK turns out to not be measles at

all.

They even say they used to confuse measles and smallpox.

So nothing is cut and dried as far as historical evidence

Who knows what children had who were damaged.

Of course, everyone was better in some ways with diagnosing as they were

used to them and their peculiarities, but still room for error. And then

we have error in a child's memory and a mom's memory

It would be interesting to see if this followed a DT vaccine she might have

had as a booster at age 12 - this was the age it was given

DPT vaccine was used in the 40's - when she would have been a child

who knows if she would have been more susceptible after that - it does

knock out vitamin A stores

Glad she had cod liver oil......yes its vitamin A, but we don't know the

details.

Who knows what her true diagnosis was as measles and scarlet fever and

other diseases like this look like each other

Scarlet fever only follows because you are in a further weakened condition

and strep can take hold

Bacteria or scavengers...........it is my belief that they don't cause

anything, they are the result of illness.

Who knows

I see no reason to expose your children to measles. It is not necessary for

them to get it, and there is not much likelihood that they will be exposed

as adults.

My friend's child came down with measles this morning. I have a 1

year old and an almost 4 year old. Should I take them to her house to

expose them naturally?? They've never been vaxxed. If this is a good

disease for them to have, I want them to have it.

One other question. I never had measles (I did have rubella, tho) and

as an adult is there anything I should worry about or if I do get it

will it be mild? I had the vax for it when I was a child.

Thanks so much for reading,

If your child has played with them recently then they're probably already

exposed. Do you know if their measles could be a virus shedding version? I

would rethink if it was a " manufactured " version.

No, my children have not seen hers in several weeks, so I know there's

been no exposure.

The case this little boy has the doc's nurse she took them to said

" It's going around, alot of kids are getting it. " So I have no idea

if it's vax shed or wild.

Would it be a bad thing to expose my kids? Is my one year old too young?

The reason specifically I thought it would be good to expose them is

because I've read that children who've had the measles have a far

lower rate of allergies, asthma, and ecxema, and that having been thru

the disease strengthens the immune system generally. Am I looking at

this wrong?

I don't think this is the greatest reason to go through a week of measles.

There are better ways to strengthen immune function.

Hi

#1 - is it really measles? It is pretty rare in US. It does happen in UK

Where do you live?

How do you know for sure it is measles?

Measles can be quite severe as an adult

We used to see children making development leaps after measles and other

so-called childhood illnesses.

They also sometimes help to relieve some inherited and acquired tendencies

and illnesses.

But again, I really question whether it is measles or not.

I also think, if I am not wrong, that you can get measles more than once, so

getting them as a child does not prevent you from getting them again.
