never used to get more than once, in most cases - also sometimes not

diagnosed right so it looks like you have itmore than once

Don't know about the recent outbreak, but I do know that I had the measels as a

child, and I was fine. The MMR was new (I am 30), and our family doctor advised

my mom to NOT allow us to get it. Where are those kind of docs now? So, I caught

measels, mumps and chickenpox ( obviously not all at once), and am fine! No long

term damage that I'm aware of:)

Hello all!

Just wondering if anyone has any " stories " on the measles. I've never

had the measles (darnit! I wish I woul have!), and we do not vax. I'm

curious if anyone knows whether or not these reported cases of measles

around the country (especially in Milwaukee, WI) were people who were

vaccinated or not. My guess is that the media will say that the people

were not vaccinated to scare people into doing so, but I wonder how

true the statements really will be.

From my understanding of the measles...it seems to me that a healthy

child living in sanitary conditions and eating a healthy diet will do

just fine if they were to get the measles.

Interested in any opinions on this! :)

Yep - 2 cases in a school or, what is it, 127 cases out of 300 million. That is

a HUGE

Good point.

It's never made sense to me why they don't send ALL kids home in an outbreak if

they're so concerned about kids getting sick. Think I'll ask that next time.

After all, they don't think the vaxes work well enough without everyone getting

them, so isn't everyone at risk regardless?

AMEN, and Winnie!!! An outbreak...hah! And you are so

right...who cares about 1 in 150 kids with autism. And isn't it

something like 1 in 4 kids with autism in the UK. I heard that

somewhere and I'm in the states so correct me if I'm wrong.

No worries.

Measles = morbilli, with Koplik spots in mouth

German measles = rubella, congenital rubella syndrome is usually caused by a

dietary lack of vitamin A in the pregnant woman. Can't get a serious hold in a

healthy person. Vaccines have not reduced the number. Abortion has reduced the

numbers! Also It's as Winnie said - they rename it to " prove " that vaccination

works. You can probably find the relevant documents at the whaleto site.

Coming from an over vaxed family I had never before seen measles- it

took a very long time to figure out the illness... So our 17 mth old

has measles, complete with diahrea, white spots in her mouth, swollen

glands, etc. I'm prego- have heard dangerous things about exposure to

measles and unborn child. Can any of you share some info about this?

Oh, 17 mth old is fine- just ill/cranky/etc. Rash is only bad in

diaper area because if diahrea- she has sensitive skin. If there are

any topical things I can do for that I'd be glad to hear it.

christina,

i don't know about any proven diaper area remedy for a measles stricken

baby, but if you aren't using cloth diapers already maybe now's a good time

to start. diaper service a luxury, not a necessity. also maybe try making

your own baby wipes (try cutting up some rags for the wipe)? the web has

many great websites that spell out recipes, but simply essential oils of tea

trea & lavender w/ water ( & maybe olive oil & natural baby soap-try dr.

bronner's) works well. i've read conflicting things about corn starch in

the diaper area, but maybe give it a go if you read it to be beneficial.

good luck, & i hope your baby gets better soon. have a healthy pregnancy!

Where do you live?

There is no way to be absolutely sure is measles just by what you

have described..........maybe.

There are many 'things' with rashes and diarrhea. The spots in the

mouth are suspicious but they usually aren't white.

White spots sound more like canker sores.

Koplik's spots are small, red, irregularly-shaped spots with

blue-white centers found inside the mouth. Koplik's spots usually

appear 1 to 2 days before the measles rash

> I'm prego- have heard dangerous things about exposure to

There aren't problems with measles (rubeola) usually (you are

thinking of rubella - 3-day measles)

>Oh, 17 mth old is fine- just ill/cranky/etc. Rash is only bad in

I'll send some remedy info - doesn't matter if it is labeled measles

or not - look at the whole symptom picture

And calendula cream is helpful to soothe while remedy is working.

Remind me where you live.

Look at all the remedies I will give you relating to measles (even

though it may not be measles - the remedies are based on symptom

pictures) and diarrhea and find the one that matches best and

includes most of the symptoms - one remedy.

Classic!  Don't call us with QUESTIONS, just " Get your damn shots! "

(as so eloquently put awhile back by Sniderman).

They don't want you to question, because they really don't have the

answers.  Measles is not the killer it is made out to be.

I'm curious how many of you have actually had

measles like I had. I guess I'm asking how many

old fogies like me are in this group. No one

commented when I mentioned about my catching

measles in first grade, 1963, first year of mass

vaccination for measles of American

schoolchildren. With every child in my school

having live measles virus in their system from

mandatory vaccinations that year, I'm thinking I

probably caught it from one of the vaccinated kids.

My case of measles was mild (but chicken pox at

the same time, they thought), and no one caught

it from me, not my four year old brother or even

my one-year-old sister who got right up in my

face to ask me if I'd " got em moosles. " Neither of them ever caught measles.

I HEAR measles is harsher now than it used to

be. Why would that be, if true? Has the

disease mutated, or is it because we no longer

have any natural immunity to it from being

exposed to the actual disease? Relatedly, are

our immune systems weaker overall from not

getting the actual disease challenges they used to get?

Anyway, I can't tell anyone else what to do, but

the scare tactics about measles seem ridiculous

to me. A kid COULD get encephalitis or any of

the things measles itself could cause from the

vaccine itself. Having read " Silent Witnesses "

volumes I and II, written by the " Lancet 12 " UK

parents who observed their children regress into

autism after MMR vaccination, I think I'd take my

chances on measles! (These books, edited by

, can be ordered from

www.cryshame.uk.co and

www.slingshotpublications.com, where you can also

read great essays by . That's how I

came to be on Dr. Wakefield's side. Of course

now you can read his book, " Callous Disregard, "

just out last month from Skyhorse Publishing Co.

(NY 2010), www.callousdisregard.com, and Amazon.com.

This isn't all that can be said, of course, on

either side. There's the public health side of

it, where they try to make you feel guilty

because you might be spreading measles if you

don't vaccinate your children. But if you break

out in measles, you actually get the live virus

out of your system (and build natural

immunity). Whereas, some of the kids with autism

have been found to have live measles virus still

inside them, causing brain and gut inflammation,

where their only exposure was from the

vaccine. Gosh it's late. I don't know if this

is useful to anyone here or if it's just

preaching to the choir. Just some of my thoughts.

I might have had measles. I got the symptoms but my mum said it 'must have been rubella' because I was vaccinated with single measles shot, but I'd already had rubella so I find that hard to believe. I had no after-effects from whatever it was. I also had mumps and chickenpox. My mother-in-law had measles and is also fine although she did have very minor hearing loss in one ear afterwards so turns the TV up loud, but other than that is normal. It's more severe now because people get it when they're teenagers and I was told by the UK DOH that the encephalitis rate for teenage and adult measles is 1 in 200 which is a lot higher than if you get it as a child. They also get atypical measles syndrome which is worse and can make you sick for 3 months according to medicine net info I've read.

Yearly outbreaks? It sure seems the vaccine isn't working if there are yearly outbreaks! And I've heard of one outbreak in my area in the 20 years I've been paying attention. Where do you live?

I live in Johannesburg, South Africa. The department of public health also goes to preschools with the free jab. When I asked one parent why they choose to vaccinate yearly for measles, I was told it is because the vaccine immunity only lasts a year.

Yet, I hear that they don't visit the schools of developmentally challenged children because of the belief that vaccines may damage those kids further...duh?

It would be nice if some one could culture the measles from the outbreaks to discover if it is infact a wild varity or iatrogenic....

Can anyone tell me why I read

that after measles is contracted that pneumonia, bronchitis usually

follow?

hardly

the talk of seriousness of diseases was increased after vaccines came

out

I was reading an article

it said that not only is measles highly contagious, but also has a high %

of complications. Is that right? UGH. What do you do if your child gets

the measles?

That's why I have the Childhood Diseases class to help all with this

;-)

I know of no one who died of measles as a child in friends or family and

we all go it

My mother has no fear of it and she was a nurse also, born in

1925.

Thanks!
