Guest guest
The moon face and flushing is from the steroids. When his labs get in the normal range, most likely you will start to taper on the steroids. Keep a copy of all labs and put it in a 3 ring binder. It's weird - there are times I would swear he got sunburned again when picking him up from daycare but it's just a flush that creeps up his face and head. It's happened even on days when he doesn't go outside. We can't tell if it's just when he gets warm or during activity, but we've definitely noticed something. Dr. Google has mentioned in a few places that facial flushing can be a side effect of the Prelone but I also know that Dr. Google isn't always accurate... So I want to talk that over with him. > > Is there anything else that y'all think I should bring up with him? Guest guest
Hi ! Thanks for confirming our suspicion that the facial flushing was because of the steroids. My husband was about to go bonkers with my thinking it was the sunburn that wasn't resolving. lol Can the flushing really come and go, both in duration and severity from day to day? > > > Hi everyone! > > > > I hope that all is well with y'all today. > > > > Tomorrow has his next appointment with the ped. rheum. Guest guest
Oh, also thought of another one. * Do we need to be concerned and/or do anything special to protect 's teeth while on the Prelone? I have heard from some friends who have asthma that their ped dentist feels that their teeth were damaged by the amounts of steroids they were taking. already has an enamel issue (our middle son has it as well) but we're hoping it doesn't progress as far as that. > > > Hi everyone! > > > > I hope that all is well with y'all today. > > > > Tomorrow has his next appointment with the ped. rheum. Guest guest
Yes - long term/high amounts of steriods can damage the teeth - enamel particularly if I remenber correctly. Consult your dentist. Guest guest
Sharon, Good luck with the appointment tomorrow. I know there are so many questions to ask. We also have a follow up appointment this week, with many questions and concerns. Hope all of yours are answered!
