Dear Nee ,

I am also working as a volunteer with Eckerd and also

preparing for the exam. It would be helpful if we can

interact about the exam preparation and it will help

to make the pace & motivation for exam.

Thanks and regards,

Mr. K.P. Seth

hi there, i just want to say that i too just became a part of the group

and i am preparing for the upcoming exam. i have not had the

opportunity to work in a pharmacy setting yet, but i want to go ahead

and take the test anyway. i think that where i need the most help is

when it comes to remembering brand name & generic name, and certain

calculations.

i have been applying as often as i can, and where ever i can but i

haven't been called back for an interview yet.

i wish you the best and want to say that its great to have you here.

Dear Nee,

CONGRATULATIONS on getting hired as a new tech.

CONGRATULATIONS for continuing to study to become CPhT in a state

that does not require it (last I knew). If it does can you share the

laws with us?

This site is committed to helping you to study and prepare for the

exam. So as soon as you have questions ask away, here we are waiting

to help.

Many tutorials already exist. So this site does not have as many

questions posted as it once had. But if you do have something that

you don't understand please post and I or one of the TEXPERTS or

moderator Dora will get back to you, usually within 24-48 hours.

Respectfully,

Hi Seth,

Yes, that would be great. Do you work in Atlanta? As far as prepping for the

Exam, I've pretty much been working on the Drug dose calcs. and knowing the

generic and brand names of Drugs. I've also visited the PTCB practice website

created by Jeanetta to work on timing myself and redoing the quest. I've missed.

At work, I try to memorize the names of fast moving drugs which I believe would

fall under the First 50- 100 most used drugs.

We still have alot to learn but I believe it comes with practice and time.

So pls. keep me posted. Thanks

Okay for the record I have never created a PTCB practice website for PTCB.

However I have created many quizzes that one may practice on. I do not have any

timed quizzes that would be Joe Medina. But one can use my quizzes to practice

knowledge understanding and to see if they can answer the questions quicker each

time they take it by timing themselves. Also I have directed everyone to

www.studystack.com where you can MAKE your own study list, I do not have one

there. a classroom student of mine may have used my name as the teacher or???

but I do not have one there for public use. I do encourage all of you to make

your own stacks and then LOCK them, so that no one cna change them.. I suggest

if you use someone elses stack that you CHECK each entry to be sure it is okay.

The stacks can be used for Trade and generic and Q and A study. THESE stacks

have a timer on one fo the MIX and Match Games! GREAT fun and a fun way to

learn. Study stack has puzzels and hangman and some

other games.

So Nee what PTCB practice website are you going to that you think I created?

what is the link?

Any way I just wanted everyone to know BEFORE the begin asking for that site

that I only have this website (that I know of) for PTCB study. All of my stuff

is in my file and link section of this site and my overflow site, including my

tutorials.

BUT we are ALL wondering WHAT site you are speaking of!!!!!!

Please tell us!!!

Love ya

Hello Oliver

Welcome. I live in Australia and have been on treatment for 3.5 months. It

has been difficult for me at times as well but I am soldiering on. I have been

encouraged by the group and also by the fact that I the treatment has been

working. I have also started to eat more healthy but still feel tired at times

due to a low white cell count. Hopefully all will get back to normal after

treatment.

hi tammy......well i dont think that u could have gotten it though sex since hep

c is not a std and they havent prove that it can be after 20 years of trying to

prove it can be transmitted that way.The tattoo could be a way of transmission

but so could any puncture wound in theory.I had hep c for 30 years and possible

longer than that and didnt even know it.I was married 22 years. My x and my

x-girlfriends do not have it. I guess you could pass it on though sex if the

person who has it bleeds then some how cuts you with a blood stained object.I

guess what Im trying to say is that you can catch a cold though sex but a cold

is not a STD which is a the same with hep c.Also I don't see the huge danger of

the diease, they make it out to be. If only 5% of people die from it,thats pretty

good odds it wont kill me if I take care of myself. anyway it is a confessing

diease and all the decision you must make on you own. Read about it and study

it hard before you

make any decisions. only you are the one that can be comfortable with what you

make of it. Cause what I say ,I very well may be wrong.....be strong

advise on how to deal with the shock and so forth. If anyone can give me some

Hi Tom.... thanks for the informatiion... My Dr. was telling me that it could

have been possible tranmitted through someone whe had it and didnt know.. but, I

am really not sure on the whole thing.... You know I just feel real trashy

cause when you read about this diease, the main thing they talk about how people

get it is through dirty needles from illegal drugs.. I go in for an altasound

next week and whatever the results are from that and my recent blood test my Dr

said that we will go from there. But, you know you read the articles and stuff

and they make you feel like you just want to give up cause they tell you to quit

this and this or that. And avoid getting sick, you cant take this kind of meds..

Hell, they make sound you need to put your self in a bubble and live like that

the rest of your life... I dont know, and the treatment stuff... they say the

you have awful side effects... and then the treatment might not even help,I am

just really scared and confused I

guess, actually honestly, I dont know what am or how I fell, is that a natural

feeling to have?

yes, I surpose that you could get it though sex but only if the contaminated

blood can enter into a punctured wound or perhaps rubbing each other raw which I

don't understand why people would that.Yeah'you could pass it on that way.Im

still not sure that most people suffer with hep c.I thought most find out they

have it from routine blood test. And that only 20 % of people with hep c get

cirrhosis after decades of it and are still show no symptoms. Please, don't get

you can catch a cold though sex but a cold is not a STD which is a the same with

Just two weeks ago tht I have been diagnosed with hcv. I am really not sure how

i got it. I have never done drugs, so my Dr. assumes I got it either from a

sexual partner of a unsterile neddle from my tattoo.

I am have really big issues about the whole thing. Hopefully, I can get some

advise on how to deal with the shock and so forth. If anyone can give me some

advise please feel free to give it.

yes, I surpose that you could get it though sex but only if the contaminated

blood can enter into a punctured wound or perhaps rubbing each other raw which I

don't understand why people would that.Yeah'you could pass it on that way.Im

still not sure that most people suffer with hep c.I thought most find out they

have it from routine blood test. And that only 20 % of people with hep c get

cirrhosis after decades of it and are still show no symptoms. Please, don't get

me wrong ...for those of you who are ill...my heart goes out to you

Hi Tammy

It is pretty scary, isn't it? I had to struggle with many similar feelings

myself, but in the end, I finally concluded that how I contracted Hep C was

nowhere near as important as how I live my life now, knowing that my liver is

diseased. I will live the rest of my life constantly aware of the effects of

everyhting I eat upon my liver, what is good for it, and in fear of remission.

Yeah, the drugs are rough - I have been doing this for 3 months, and am so

tired, but I have devoted this part of my life to recovery...it has not been

easy, and I have been an emotional train wreck = it is not the same for everyone

- but there is no way I could work through this, so I am also nearing financial

hades - it has been very expensive

the good news is that some people do succeed - and with the proper approach -

i think i will too

good luck to you!

Hi Tammy,

You're where I was a few months ago and trust me, you're beating

yourself up for nothing. You aren't trashy or dirty, you were just

unlucky enough to contract a disease that believe it or not is NOT

that easy to pass on if you know you have it!

It's unlikely you got it from a sexual encounter but possible so you

can't rule it out. You'd both have to have an open wound or you'd

have to be on your period...and he with an open sore, etc.

I've been with my husband for 14 years and he does not have hcv, yet

I've had it for 20 or more years.

You can get it through unsanitary tatt parlors (especially those

tattoo parties that are so big these days), piercings, anything with

contaminated blood on it.

As for treatment people react differently to it. I've heard some talk

about how aweful it is and how sick they get, but I have very few

side affects and they're mild.

Don't give up Tammy. If there are a few things you must live without

it's because they probably weren't good for you to begin with. Drugs,

booze...

First and foremost find a good doctor (and staff) who will take time

to answer your questions regarding hcv and it's treatment.

It's not the end of the world, it's the beginning of a healing

proccess. ;-)

Gayle....

Thanks for the words of encouragement, they mean alot... You it was really

funny how we found cause I have a thyroid problem, and I had went in to get a

check up my dr did some blood work and noticed my liver count was kinda high,

she didnt think much about it, but, then when she rechecked it about a month

later my liver count was still high and so that is when she did the blood work

for hep. So, when they called me and told me over the phone i wigged out. I have

been ready alot of the side effects of the treament, i am kind of worried, I

dont sleep much as it is, the whole depression thing worries me, and the biggest

thing is doing the injection part of treatment myself I hate needles as it

is...so I dont know. But, I am glad I was able to find a support group, I really

would like to find a local one too.

I know that giving up certian stuff to stay healthy is a plus, but, man, it

seems like you are having to give up life to sirvive. I guess, th emore I learn

about this the better i will start feeling, i think..

Again, thank you for your nice words...

Tammy
