Guest guest
I am doing OK.. The colors are changing up here so it is beautiful. I have a friend visiting from Florida so it should be a good week. He is going to help drive my wife and I up to our cabin outside of Yellowstone. It should be a nice time. I am glad that you are getting more relief. You will probably still have pain but maybe this will be enough to let you live a little more of a normal life.. I hope you enjoy the movie. : ) Tom In a message dated 9/27/2008 7:14:27 A.M. Mountain Daylight Time, mcowan19@... writes: > > Hey . > What part of Texas.. Guest guest
Dear Lois, First of all you will need to check with Az State Board of Pharmacy to find out what the qualifications are to practice as a tech in your state since you last teched. Sounds like you may have already done this. If you qualify just by passing the PTCB exam, then by all means study for it and I am confident you will pass given your background AND more study. But be forewarned, IF all you need is passing of PTCB to get your registration to work as a tech, you may still find that no one wants to hire you without recent experience. So PLEASE keep looking for that pharmacy that will hire you in training. Since you do not have a registration or PTCB certificate (I do not believe that you do, at this time) I suggest that you try some pharmacies by not mentioning your Rx back ground.....just go in to the pharmacy and try to get hired as a tech in training. Perhaps they are concerned that you left pharmacy at one time and may leave again; also they are concerned that you may leave if/when the real estate market picks up. Try both ways you never know what they are thinking when presented with your resume or you in person. Speaking of resume check out the resume building tutorials on this site. Maybe your resume needs a facelift! Respectfully, Jeanetta Mastron CPhT BS Pharm Tech Educator Founder/Owner > > Hi everyone, > > Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. Guest guest
Dear Lois, I worked as pharmacy tech for 7 years in Massachusetts, but it was in 1995, the company I worked for closed, and not needing certification at that time in that state, I never got it. I moved to CA 2 years ago, became certified, and state licensed, but am also struggling finding a job because I have no recent experience. I will say that I found the testing to be interesting because I did learn quite a bit that I didn't have to know back then, but with my experience it seemed easier in certain areas for me. This is just my personal experience, but I'm still plugging away trying to find that one place that will hire me without RECENT experience. I wish you all the luck in the world, and just know that you can pass the test! Thanks Jeanetta for the info, I may just try some of your pointers myself! > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. Guest guest
Hi , I also had pain in my lower back that was worse when I got out of bed in the morning and then went away after moving around a little while (I am 57). This is how osteoarthritis is discribed in my home medical book. I must say that mine has gotten better since I have made the effort to improve my posture. I have always been a little hunched over, which puts pressure on the discs in the front of the spine making them degenerate faster and form bone spurs. Also the muscles at the back of the spine weaken and can spasm more easily. Pulling your back straight all the time will strengthen your back muscles and keep your vertebral joints stabilized. (mine were " popping " at random times). Along with keeping your back straight, try also to keep your shoulders back. (I exercise by pinching my shoulder blades in back ) Good posture has the bonus of helping relax the neck, which has helped my neck pain tremendously. (My neck was always forward which overstresses neck muscles which was always trying to keep the unbalanced and heavy head in place.) It is hard work keeping your back straight. I myself was always gradually slumping forward, which meant my back muscles were not strong enough to stay straight. But I kept at it and after a couple of months, I realized my back pain was significantly better and the " popping " in my back joints was gone. Hope this helps, Rochelle

Guest guest
Hi Dianne I am with you all the way. I have the same pain in my neck. if I could have the op here I would. I live in a small country town and all I can get here is physio(never go there again) and chirporactic. My neck is so bad and the pain in my shoulder is way out of this world to describe the pain. i too have been told now I need to have my gall bladder out.-what was that like? I also need surgery in my lower back as my dics are so worn. No pain meds or tens or massage gives any relief. Talk with your doctor make sure you understand everything about the op. My cousin in the Uk had his neck done and also his lower back. he said it was so worth it. long rehab and some pain but he knows in the end it will all be worth it. he is back to work. Let me know please how you get on. Its a huge decision and no one but you knows how your pain feels. Listen to your heart Hope this helps Regards Lee ________________________________ From: Dianne <dianne12315@...> neck pain Sent: Thursday, 2 April, 2009 8:34:52 AM Subject: New Member Hi Everyone, I'm new to the group but not to neck or back pain. I've had ongoing neck problems for the past 20+ years. In the beginning of Feb 2009 I was sitting here playing Solitaire on my computer when I felt this intense pain between my shoulder blades. I didn't think too much of it and figured it would feel better by the next day. Unfortunately it didn't and got so bad I finally resorted to going to my doctor. He gave me 4 shots of cortisone in my neck/shoulder blade (right side) but it didn't help. A few days later I went back because of the intense pain and he sent me for an MRI. The MRI showed I have a " moderate herniation at C6-7 level. " By now the pain is going down my arm and my thumb, index and middle fingers are tingling at times. My regular MD didn't feel it was necessary to send me to an orthopedic so he ordered Lortabs 10mg which did next to nothing for me. I started seeing a Chiropractor who started using the Tens Unit(?) and heat. This kind of felt good but as soon as I was back in my car the pain returned. I called him the next day and then Spinal Decompression was started. I found this to be very painful but he was persistent and said it would help as long as I stuck with it. After 5 visits I called my orthopedic md and he told me that nothing was going to work and he was more than 99% sure I was going to need surgery. Not what I wanted to hear. He did start me on the Medrol Pack and I got some relief from the sterioids. Once they finished I called the Neurosurgeon and got an appointment right away. As soon as he examined me he said I needed surgery because my triceps muscle was not as it should be and he was even more convinced once he looked at my MRI. He showed me the herniation and showed where it was pressing on my spinal cord and nerves. The pain I have been in for the past 6 - 8 weeks is like nothing else I've ever felt. Having my gall bladder out was a picnic compared to this. I'm having surgery on April 7 and from what he told me I will also have screws in my neck when he is done. I know the name of the procedure he is doing but right now it has slipped my mind. He also says I will be back to work (lifting, pulling etc) in a week. I am wondering if anyone here has an encouraging words for me since all my friends are telling me to think twice. I'm not so sure I can forego this surgery. The pain is to the point where I want it gone. Thank you in advance. [] Dianne
Guest guest
Hi Lee, Thank you so much for your response and I feel bad for you. Like you I got no relief from the Chiropractor or spinal decompression. I'm 99.99% sure I will go ahead with the surgery. I'm to the point where I can't take the pain anymore. I'm hearing a lot of positive things about this surgery. Gall bladder surgery was really pretty easy for me. Of course I was 15 yrs younger too. I had Laproscopic Surgery and was pretty sore the first few days but was driving my car after 4 days. The only reason I couldn't go back to work the following week was because I do a lot of heavy lifting lifting on my job. I say if you need gall bladder surgery go for it. I hear a gall bladder attack is no picnic. lucky for me I didn't have one. The Drs took it out before I had one and I thank God they did. Good luck and hope you feel better.
