i eat around my pills. i take them on an empty stomach, so they will work

faster. I wait a good hour and a half before eating, and then i make sure

not to eat within two hours of taking more. I have lost a lot of weight

though.

No greater burden can be borne by an individual than to know no one cares or

understands.

I realize the wish to have the pain meds work as soon as possible, but most all of the pain meds and especially anti-inflammatories specifically state they are to be taken with food. The reason for this is to protect your stomach lining as much as possible from the harsh action the pills can have on it. I believe you can even end up with ulcers if you subject your stomach to these pills without food. My Dr. had me on Rx anti-inflammatories and told me to always take with food no matter what. While I am now taking the anti-inflammatory Naproxyn which can be bought over the counter, the pharmacist also advised me the same: to only take with food.

Taking these meds with food should not decrease their effectiveness although as you state they may not activate as quickly with food in the stomach as they do when taken on an empty stomach. Regardless, please read your drug inserts thoroughly (sometimes Doctors and Pharmacists forget to tell you) to see if they should be taken with food. And please reconsider taking these meds with food when directed because ulcers can be fatal.

Wishing all some relief of pain today,Leena

I don't want a stomach ache on top of everything else. I always take

mine with milk and try to have something to eat with them. I remember

when my parents drove me down to see a 2nd opinion in SLC after my

surgery last summer and I had to take pills and didn't have any food

or milk. I got the worst stomach pain from that and we made it a

point to stop and get something and keep it on hand after that. I

don't ever want to go thru that again if I don't have to. Even though

all of mine do not say to take with food I do. At least a sip a milk

if I can't eat right away. I even had one once that said don't take

with grapfruit juice. I would follow the directions on the bottle to

avoid any stomach problems or other problems for sure.

Just a few of my thoughts on it.

Hoping for low pain days for everyone,

Katrina :-)
