It seems that a man named Duchenne, was, in the 1800's, THE recognized

authority on the application of electricity for diseases. His book, On

Localized Electrization and Its Application to Pathology and Therapeutics,

is downloadable through books.google.com. It is translated from the French

by Tibbets--spelling may be off some. Anyway, at the bottom of page 44

Duchenne is saying that the tendency of electricity to go around an organ

instead of through it has been overcome very simply by ----- pages 45 and

46 are missing--and the text takes up on page 47 with the desired

information missing. That info is of course how he gets the current to go

through the organ instead of around it. I don't know if there are other

copies of this book available that have the missing pages. Anybody here

know how to check for other copies--that is, how to check easily? I had to

look for a long, long time to find just the one copy. If I have to, I will

look more for other copies, but I'll bet some of you will be able to find

out everything in less than 10 minutes and do us all a great favor. Also,

there are probably copies of this book in restricted areas in several

libraries some of which may be near some of you. That info is available on

the books.google.com site so if necessary maybe someone can actually go and

look at the book itself and get the information. Odd that those particular

pages should be missing. Hope this message does not offend anyone. Had

the list not been so quiet I would not have sent this out. But maybe

someone is having not much to do and it is a rainy day or some such. :) pj

Can you share the link to this book? I went to Google books and put in the

title but all I can come up with is the Handbook of Medical Electricity

download by Tibbit and

A Practical treatise on the medical & surgical uses of electricity by Beard

and Rockwell.
