Guest guest
Hi, this should be reading something other than zero. One problem can be there are two places to plug in the red wire on the meter, just try the other place. The other is if you touch a battery both the positive and negative sides with the probes while it is set to the 2000uA or other Amps setting, it usually blows the meter's fuse. If that happens, just open the meter using the two screws, and replace the fuse. I usually keep a few of them taped to outside of the meter in case. I have done that a couple times, and the meter will appear to work fine, but will not work for any of the amps' type settings if the fuse gets blown. bG
Guest guest
bG, I tried all the openings to plug in the leads and it still reads 000. I didn't touch the battery coils with the probes. I think the multimeter itself is defective. I originally bought Radio Shack's top of the line meter but found the settings too difficult to understand. They didn't match the meters' settings in the photos. At least it seemed confusing to me so I returned the item to Radio Shack and bought the cheaper Harbor Freight one. I'll go back and get the expensive one I originally bought. I'll have some questions about the settings. Thanks for your help. Guest guest
No, you dont have a good connection, check all ur wires, make sure the sponges r wet. There shud be a reading when u put the sponges together. From: btc5@... <btc5@...>Subject: Multimeter reading Date: Wednesday, May 11, 2011, 9:34 PM I completed my construction of the metered godzilla. I'm using a Cen-Tech multimeter from Harbor Freight and have it set at the DCA section 2000U. When I turn it on it's at 000 (and stays there). Is that correct? How do you know the godzilla's working? I think I set it up correctly. I just didn't include the potentiometer because I'm still not too clear on where to attach the wires to it. My main concern right now is making sure the godzilla''s running and at the recommended level. Thank you
