Guest guest
Hi, Dianna. We have been fortunate (knock on wood) in that our son (3 yo) has not had any ear infections. (I attribute it to good luck, no daycare and 2 years of breastfeeding) One interesting note I remember when looking up ear infections in my various " alternative " books is that it seems when a child is given antibiotics for an ear infection, they are more apt to have recurrent ear infections when compared to children who have either not been given antibiotics or where they have waited (I think) 3 days to do so. Again, I have no personal experience with this and completely concede to others who have. I just thought this was interesting and it stuck in my brain. I know it is a very common problem - ear infections. Good luck. Cathi
Guest guest
Boost their immune system....visit a naturopathic, homeopathic or chiropractor. All of them can help with ear infections naturally. If your child is on milk/dairy take them off. Dairy creates more mucus which gets more infected. Use mullein, garlic/olive oil warmed. Health stores have combination oil drops. Look in the past month's archives. A similar discussion occurred. Definately find yourself a good alt. doctor and as one post said with an emergency #. Our homeopathic dr. has an emergency # but our naturopathic doesn't. Pick up the book Smart Medicine for a Healthier Child (recommended several times) it has very specific treatments including traditional antibiotics. My daughter, unlike myself, my sister, my husband, has had no ear infections and has not been further vaccinated after her reaction to the first Hep B vaccine. They have come back with glowing results. Score a few cloves of garlic and toss it in a pan with some olive oil. Fry the garlic. Remove the colves and let the oil cool down until warm. Make sure its only mildly warm - you dont want it too hot. Drop some of the oil into each ear. The warmth is soothing and the garlic serves as an antibacterial agent. Repeat as needed. Guest guest
I read something like that also. It said that a ear infection goes away on its own, in the same amount of time a Doctor has your child on the antibiotic. It really made me think. 'knock on wood ' for us too. My three year old son has had only one ear infection despite his allergies. The first thing every Dr askes us, is if he has had lots of ear infections! I am sure that one course of antibiotics he was on for that ear infection is what played a big part in his candida overgrowth. (the steroid creams didnt help either.) Guest guest
Dear Dianna, My son did have some earinfections, and he is unvaccinated, and unfortunately I did treat them with antibiotics, which I had no problem getting from my pediatrician. Now I give my kids a product called Congaplex the moment they show any signs of getting a cold or anything. I get it from my chiropractor, and it works WONDERS. The whole family is using it now, and we have gone through flue seasons, even with other kids I babysit, getting sick, but we stayed out of it. Guest guest
hi..my son is 9 1/2 mths old..born at home and never been vaccinated and has been adjusted since he was 5 hours old. My mother in law is a Chiropractor and she was here at my home for her grandson's birth. She checked him out when he was 5 hours old and had one subluxation (misalignment) and he got his first adjustment. She checks him about once a week and he has been healthy. Praise God!! When I worked for my mother in law, we had patients who would bring in their children and the children had ear infections quite often in the past. As soon as they started getting adjustments..the ear infections rarely showed up. I am so excited that I found this list. I grew up in a " medical family " (my mom is a pediatric nurse..of all things). I grew up knowing you " had " to respect doctors and their advice/opinions. But I educated myself. My husband has never been vaccinated, and neither has any of his brothers or his sister and they are very healthy. (and of course they get regular adjustments from their mom). My mom gave me hell when she found out that I was not vaccinating; she even threatened to not give us Christmas presents unless we got our son vaccinated. I am glad I have the support of my mother in law as well as my best friend who is also not vaccinating.
Guest guest
Does anyone else do chiropractic for their babies? I have for both my girls since they were a few days old and, it may be coincidence and the breastfeeding, but neither one have ever had an ear infection and they are now 3yrs and 15mos. They very rarely even get colds. I had read of a major university study a few years ago that showed that chiropractic had a dramitically positive effect on chronic ear infections, so I hope that this is helping my girls, because I was very prone to ear infections as a child and into my teens. Bottom line, if your child is having a problems, I would try chiro before going the vaccine or surgery (like some of my friends have done because they don't " believe " in chiro) route. Guest guest
We're really lucky with our chiro. She is most concerned with just seeing our kids, so the practice charges a fixed monthly rate for individual or for family, irrespective of what insurance will pay. They get some money from insurance, but if our insurance wouldn't cover we would be charged at the same rate, and are charged at that rate when our insurance reaches its limit for chiro early in the year. If you have a really pro-chiro pediatrician maybe they will refer you, but maybe it's better to find out your chiro's policy for family. Peggy sindea wrote: > > Today was my first adjustment! People will use endless rounds of antibiotics because they hear that once you go to a chiro you have to keep going back. LOL And then, ear tubes. Ick. My kids also haven't had any infections. Wait, that's not true. One time Brady had one. We were leaving for FL the next day. The Dr. who never prescribes ant. for me, a wonderful ped. asked that I just take her presc and get if filled in case things got bad down there and we needed it. I did and of course didn't need it. Would have only used it as a last resort anyway. I just did the ear massage and let it go. Brady was at the chiropractor once for a hurt wrist. I (yes, I'm guilty) use them only for critical care. I just can't afford to go regularly. My ins. won't cover it, and it's so much. SO, I get a migraine. I go. But, yes, we're pretty healthy overall. My kids are wonderfully healthy. They heal quickly with cuts and so forth. But, back to your original question. Chiropractic definately does help prevent ear infections and even get rid of current ones. www.diapers.bizland.com
Guest guest
We have taken both of our boys to the chiropractor since they were each 1 month old! They are now 5 and 3 and are hardly ever sick!! If they do get a runny nose or cough, the first place I take them is to the chiro. It really seems to help them be able to fight the infection themselves! I'm a strong believer in chiropractic care...I just wish most insurance companies were!!! Debi

Guest guest
Sorry I took so long to respond, having a rough time keeping up with email these days. I will talk to my sister soon to find out if she knows what the exact cause of death was. Ear infection Was cause of death listed as a ear infection or possibly SIDS? I have never heard, but I have never investigated all causes of deaths in infants. That would be very scarry and so sad! ( Ear infection Has anyone heard of a baby dying from an ear infection? Recently, a 5 month old baby died and my sister says she was told that the baby died from an ear infection. Is this possible? Any input will be appreciated. Guest guest
How about a chiropractor? We have used that everytime at first sign and has worked miracles...also check the archives as there was a bunch of info(some of it controversial!)...we did use an antibiotic once as son was crying and sleeping for 20 hours of the day(5 yrs old) and adjustment did not seem to make a difference. I went in for the recheck appt today and told them that I used the prescription( I did not) one ear is totally clear and the other still has a mild infection and he cried really hard when the doctor checked it so it must be bothering him.
