Guest guest
Brittle bones are an SMAers worst enemy after lung congestion. Get a dr to treat you with zometa or pammidronate infusions. These meds brought a lot of quality back to my life. Outside of not breaking bones any more these meds cut my bone pain down about 75-80%. These infusions are the same as drugs like boniva and other pills marketed towards older women. The pills aren't as good on folks with SMA because if you have swallowing troubles these pills can cause serious damage if they get stuck. Also the pill form wrecks havoc with acid reflux and digestive issues that folks like me have from my twisted up back squashing my digestive track. > >> > > >>> > > I broke my left hip (for the third time ) earlier this year and > >> > took > >>> > > serveral months to heal. Guest guest
No, the pregnancy was actually much easier than I was prepared for. I went into premature labor at 31 weeks but this was not due to my SMA. All the women in my family have pre-term labor, they were just unable to stop mine so I had an emergency c-section. Having was the best decision I ever made and, if it is something you want to consider when you get older, I'd have some serious conversations with your doctors about it. I made sure that I could physically handle a pregnancy before we started trying Milinovich, SMA Type I Wife to , Mommy to - 18 Months Old! http://www.myspace.com/kindrana http://s174.photobucket.com/albums/w107/boramir/?start=0 ________________________________ From: Jade Theriault <radiofinger@...> Sent: Sunday, November 2, 2008 12:01:13 AM Subject: Re: broken bones wow type 1 mother was birth hard? Guest guest
I've never had to have surgery to fix a broken bone. I have had to have surgery to fix torn ligaments and such but that is common, even for able-bodied people. Guest guest
Read that Becker published info on the use of magnets to help bones heal. I do not have the info but do recall seeing on the ''net drawings showing the correct polarity and placement needed. The herb known as knitbone might be helpful too. Best wishes, pj
