The oral cavity (mouth to most of us), is wet and pretty conductive. applying

sponges to the cheeks will result in lots of current diving into the mouth,

where it can find germs in gums, teeth, bones, even inside of the teeth.

Electrons only require something conductive and the mouth is very conductive,

with only a small amount of tissue outside of it.

So it seems we should be able to operate cleanly and effectively on the outside

of the cheeks, to access the germs in the mouth.
