as a web host over 15 years I suspect the additional potential server load would be astronomical if you are referring to be able to download the email posts ... as a group owner of many lists I've often wished I could archive the 5-7 years accrued on some of themwhen I have a group I want to be able to immediately search at any time I simply stay in individual emails and filter that group into it's own folder and have been archiving one of my groups in the background that way for years now, I simply search my local email files instead of going to the web - agreed, my mail file is huge, but then 2 terabyte hard drives are easily under $100 now, I just picked up a 1 terabyte for under $40.Hope this helps,The Quietly Lurking and ListeningMr. Mike San DiegoHEP C+ 30+ years w/o Rx and Going Strong! <><><> ---------------------- <><><>Mike Little & Associates - San Diego, Californiahttp://HostingAndInternetServices.comDomain Name Registration, Web Design, Hosting, & Internet Services(619) 521-1741 H (619) 415-7719 C Statements made in this email are the express opinion(s) of the sender, may contain copyrighted, sensitive, or condifential information, and are meant for the intended recipient only. as moderator I have "tools" for admin. But there's no download feature like that...would be sensational, but they did not create one. Someone may know a trick to get it done, or some sort of "save page as" with all the underneath documents,,,seems unlikely though.

NOTE: not for the technically faint of heart.

Ok, some false starts and then after rooting around

a bit, I found Grab Archiver at

<http://sourceforge.net/projects/grabgroup/>

This comes in 4 parts:

1) messages (as pointed out by another, these are pretty

useless to archive)

2) files

3) photos

4) members

I downloaded only the " files " and " photos " parts.

These are perl scripts so you need to have perl installed on

your computer. If you don't have it (open a command window

and enter " perl -v " ; it is shows a version, you have it;

otherwise you'll get an error message), you can install

ActiveState Perl.

Since I have Mac OS X, I have it but I was missing an

important module that I had to find and install.

Then I ran the " files " script as described in the README

file and had to fix a few issues with the script. Once I did

that -- voila! I now have the files on my local hard drive.

I tried the " photos " script but that just hung didn't

download anything. I'll have to debug this a bit more but I

think it has the wrong path for where keeps photos.

bG, if you would like, I can do the following:

a) modify these to specifically work for this group;

B) modify the instructions with my mods and group-specific

info (but I won't go into much into perl -- if you can

tinker, then you'll be able to figure out what to change/fix).

c) verify my instructions for Windows 7 and OS X.

Someone else can do the instructions for Linux, etc.

d) zip these up to a single file;

e) send them to you so you can put them in the " files "

section of the group.

It might take me a couple more days to get back to this,

but I'll do it if you want.
