potentiometer use and hookup

Great pics on use of the meter. Even I can do it now!! A post mentioned a 100K

potentiometer. Do I have this right? The pot does away with the necessity of

adjusting the length or size of wire by reducing the voltage (or it amps)? And

to add the pot to the godzilla (with or without meter) all you do is cut one of

the wires and put the pot in. One side of the lead to #1 connection and the

other side of the lead to #3 connetction. The middle connection (#2) is not

needed and is simply bent over.
