Guest guest
I just wanted to add something...after 2 years of sore throats and feeling like I was being choked...i found it it is related to my GERD. I didn't believe it when the doctor first told me (major denial) but I now see she's correct. I have had to stop eating certain foods because of the GERD (I have limited dairy, tea, coffee...i also find certain things like tomatos, peppers, and excess wheat to be culprits for me personally.) As I have limited these foods I have found my throat to be much better.
Guest guest
Hi all, I just asked Kathleen and she says that the lining of the throat gets inflamed too. A simplified version but the basics. Hope this helps, Melt Sore throat I always said I had a weird sore throat..
Guest guest
Thanks Kristian, and all other replies For the wise words. Infact the patient is a 28 year old female. Yes she still has her Tonsills i have now prescribed Pen vk 500 7/10. I have seen peritonsillular abcess before and on this occasion i don't see the clinical signs. I do have a ENT capability down the local Hospital approx 40 min drive from my clinic. I was trying to ask the group if my judgement was correct on saying this has to be a bacterial infection due to the pus formation. She also claims she has the same symptoms approx 4 times yearly. So at this specific return of acute symptoms i'm not to concerned however all other cultures have not been routinely investigated. Is it possible that it was viral to begin with and now has become bacterial. If strepp Tests are negative can it still be possible that strepp A is present >From: KReninger@... >leeoshea1000@... >Subject: sore throat >Date: Sun, 30 May 2004 09:24:24 -0400 > >Hello, > >I'm a flight nurse-paramedic and per diem ED nurse by trade, but I find >your listserve to be interesting and perhaps some day I will look for work >overseas myself. Guest guest
Tami, Sometimes when taking prednisone, I had sore throats, but it wasn't the drug. It could be a secondary infection, or it could be from the drainage from your sinuses. The pred. opens them up and the gunk drains better. If there's no fever, try gargling and drinking lots of water. If there's a fever or the gargling doesn't help, it could be worth a call to your doc. BillieTami Klumpyan <tami@...> wrote: quick question. Is it normal to get a sore throat when taking prednisone. Very complicated, but I was told to NOT take any Calcium because of this, What did your doctor say about the high Calcium? Bonnie sore throat I have just started taking vco and read a few people have suffered catarryh or throat problems. I also have a sore throat. Could this just be the body detoxing? I've also had a bit of heart fluttering. Although I have not had it confirmed by docter I had a mineral test done a year ago and they said they thought i had a thyroid problem. Symptons being fatigue and dry skin and low mood, and inability to lose weight easily even on fairly healthy diet and not alot over weight. I have joint aches and pains too. High calcuim levels in the blood indicate this. I was on loads of supplements to no avail Will i really get relief from all these symptoms using the oil. I would love to have energy again! Did you have to take vit D to cure the problem? Did not go to doctor. Went to kinesiologist who sent off a hair sample to be mineral tested. Calcium was sky high, indicating calcium was not being pulled back into the bone putting me at risk of oesteoporosis. Apparently calcium is constantly flowing from bone to blood as needed controlled by thyroid and parathyroid. This indicated problem with thyroid and parathyroid and adrenals also had decreased activity. They said my metabolism was slow. I was told not to take calcium in supplements and interestingly i was told not to take vit D either. I do in a multi-vit though. They put me on a load of supplements and gave me a list of foods to avoid or increase in my diet. It didn't do much good. I don't like taking drugs of any kind and have always preferred the natural approach and was hoping the vco would be my saviour as i don't trust doctors. Been taking it for a week now. Sore throat bit better today. Cut down vco a bit yesterday. > sore throat > > > I have just started taking vco and read a few people have suffered > catarryh or throat problems. Guest guest
Hi Sally: Your Calcium in your hair, showed up because it was being pulled OUT of the bone and into the bloodstream. No I am not supposed to take ANY Vitamin D and supposed to AVOID the Sun AND Vitamin D in foods. This screwed-up Vitamin D thing is because I have Intra-Cellular Bacteria and/or Viruses from years ago. This interferes with the Vitamin D. And very easy to find out if you have this. Ask your doctor for a Vitamin D Metabolites blood test. I have 4 virusus from illnesses that I've had in the past. Mononucleosis, 2 Pnuemonia viruses and Toxoplasmosis because we had Cats when I was small. All of these are what causing the problem. Bonnie sore throat > > > I have just started taking vco and read a few people have suffered > catarryh or throat problems. I also have a sore throat. Could this > just be the body detoxing? Guest guest
you might not need cytomel if you get adrenal meds to help utilize T3. Gracia Hello, I'm experiencing a sore throat since reducing my Cytomel. It's the only change in routine. I've looked around the messages looking for anyone's experiences of getting a sore throat by reducing Cytomel and not finding anything. I've been getting mthly blood work since adjusting my Armour and Cytomel. I've been on 50mg of Iodoral now for 4 mths and only recently getting the sore, feeling pressure in the throat. Thought it might be a virous and took supplements for that but the pressure and now spasm coughing is got me concerned. I soooo don't want to increase my Cytomel. I'm hoping the Armour and Iodoral will do for now.Any thoughts of what I can do for now to help?Thank youKathleen No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. You said " pressure. " That's kind of like some people can feel their thyroid enlarging when not taking enough thyroid medication. Lugol's Solution can cause the throat to burn a bit, I experienced that for a period of time. >Thought it might be a virous and took supplements for that 3% hydrogen peroxide from the drug store (but food grade would be better) is one of the best cures for a viral / bacterial sore throat. It will cure strep. I really can't think of any " supplements " that work well for this, except Vitamin C. The hydrogen peroxide works directly on the source. but >the pressure and now spasm coughing is got me concerned. Spasms in the espophagus can be caused by low magnesium. Coughing, food getting stuck in the throat, and choking awake at night can all be caused by a goiter (swelling thyroid from inadequate meds.) I soooo don't >want to increase my Cytomel. Why's an increase such a concern? Not to mention why do you specifcally have to increase cytomel if you're on Armour? Guest guest
Skipper, on my last blood work my FT3 was 470(way off the chart), FT4 1.1(last bld wrk was at .7), TSH .03(last was .44) so the doc suggested reducing my am dose of either armour or cytomel. I chose cytomel because I want the benefit of armour. Am on 90mg of Armour, and now 5mcg Cytomel(was 10mcg). I may be low Mg as you suggested and also in seeing the post listing symptoms. My pulse came down after reducing the Cytomel and sleep was better. I'm not ruling out the possibility of acid reflux causing some of the spasm coughing. If it pursist and reflux ruled out I will have to get the doc to check for any signs of goiter. Thank you Skipper for your help and suggestions. Guest guest
I don't know what cytomel is. Guest guest
Why does your doc have you on both Armour & Cytomel? Armour is the complete spectrum, including the T3, which is what Cytomel is. I think that is what Skipper is wondering about. It is fairly unusual to take both I think, I'm sure I'll be corrected if that is wrong. I take Cytomel and Levothyroxine together because the levothyroxine is only the T4, and I need both to get any improvement, which I have. I do not take Armour because I am strict vegetarian. Ray Peat said average pulse rate in a population is 85, but some out-of-shape people are annoyed if their pulse raises above 60 on thyroid meds. DC Jarvis talked about the calming effects of Lugol's Solution in " Vermont Folk Medicine. " He didn't specify, but I assume that meant the pulse rate went down. I had food getting stuck in my throat, choked awake at night and the doctors still didn't recognize " goiter " because on ultrasound my thyroid was " small to normal. " But, when I increased my thyroid meds out of desperation when the CPAP breathing machine didn't help, I slept all nigh for the first time in quite a long time. So, I had hypothyroid induced apnea, my thyroid felt a little swollen and was having negative effects, but the doctors didn't get it. Iodine will help with reflux, because as Trudeau reported in " Natural Cures They Don't Want You to Know About " , it's usually low stomach acid that causes reflux. Iodine helps fix this problem. Guest guest
Skipper, the labs backed up my symptoms of high pulse and not sleeping well at night. My pulse averages around 88, so when it shot up to 100's I new something was off. Is there any research on Iodoral increasing FT3's? Should I consider increasing my Armour to get the needed FT3's? I will be getting more blood work done in a few weeks and have a doc who is working with my experimenting based on my symptoms. thank you. If one has low cortisol, the pulse rate will be escalated, and the serum levels of thyroid hormone could also be elevated, just because it's in the blood doesn't mean it's being utilized properly by the cells. Many with low thyroid, also have low adrenals. Skipper _________________________________________________________________ Turn searches into helpful donations. Guest guest
Skipper, I have, according to an AM/PM cortisol blood draw, extremely high cortisol in the am and low in the pm. I'm taking an adrenal glandular for that. My throat pressure is getting better since I increased my Mg. Thank you for all the input/help.
