So here is the newbie question-

Do patients with PID need to be on any meds (like antibiotics) prior to

dental appointment? I was just making the kids annual dental appointment

(thanks for reminding me!) and realized we haven't been to the dentist since

the Dx or starting IVIG. Anything out of the norm we need to do?

Thanks!

Mark has a lot more plaque, our doc says it's common in PID kids.

For dental visits, when Mark was on IVIG, we scheduled a cleaning within 7 days

of a treatment. And we always premedicate.

our dentist always puts on antibiotics before cleanings and appointments

for her braces. The dentist is the one who insisted on this- we did not even

consult with our immunologist because we were happy with our dentist taking

extra precautions-especially since always has mouth ulcers /canker

sores.

Hope this helps-

wishing you all the best -

Yes, I'd be interested in this too.

My dentist is providing me with samples to suck on for immediate sensitivity but

I'd love to know the medium and longer term issues.

Thanks,

Jacqui

Check " non toxic dental associations " for referrals. There might be an

association related to Dr. Huggins?and his work. There is a blood test which

tells the dentist what materials are most compatible to be used in your mouth.

Be careful with dentist who say they are non toxic, but don't follow correct

procedure.

I was using my 2 sponge unit yesterday for jawbone infection. This is an

ongoing thing for me. Sinuses too. I had failed to use the device for quite a

while so I really needed it. Anyhoo, I spent about 40 min. total doing jawbones

and sinuses. Sponges were in front and behind the neck trading places every 10

min. The last few minutes I moved the sponge in front here and there over the

whole face area including forehead. Then I began pressing it down and releasing

it quickly several times. Soon I began to get a metallic taste. I had large

mercury fillings for many years. So I am wondering if this could be driving

some mercury out of tissue. Or maybe it is some copper from the wire?? Any

ideas?? At any rate, the whole head area is lots better today so we can rack

up one more successful use of this handy dandy device.

I need to use it more often. But when I get to feeling real good I will get

busy doing things and neglect it. But I never fail to check each email from

this group. I never just delete it as I do for many. So thanks very much for

continuing the group. It is truly a life saver. I tell people about it all the

time. Thanks so much. pj

hi, shirley

metallic taste is not from mercury. It happens to people with no fillings at

all. It is some sort of electro-stim effect.

if concerned abt mercury take some dmsa,(not dmso) from health food stores.

dmsa is what is used in hospitals for heavy metals poisoning, it will chelate

mercury out, as well as lead, cadmium, etc.
