Guest guest
Valtrex/Famvir/Acyclovir as prophylaxis will also prevent herpes outbreaks. Herpes simplex viruses (genital and oral) are very closely related to the shingles/chicken pox virus, called Varicella. For the treatment of shingles you do need a higher dose. Guest guest
Would you recommend having the drug on hand to take for the first burning symptom of herpes simplex. I know it really slows the duration . If you have had chicken pox as a child does this increase your rish of shingles? Guest guest
Shingles only recurs as a reactivation from a prior chicken pox infection. People could have been infected with Chicken pox and not know it, so it is better to be safe an assume anyone can get it. It does help to just keep the pills at home and at the first sign of reactivation, or either shingles or herpes, take the medication. It will shorten the duration and decrease the likelihood of long term problems. Rick Furman, MD. > >> > >> What about the recurring herpes on the lips, should they also go on > >> medication. Guest guest
I think " reduce herpes with coconut oil " is a myth, and that's why oil-based herpes cures did not become a main treatment after research showed susceptability back in 1979. I know, it works in a test tube but topical coconut oil won't traverse the skin and fascia to kill much infection, and you have to hit a lipid-enveloped organism directly to break it. Try ozonated olive oil on the lesions; OOO kills every kind of microbe, and the ozone is known to penetrate the skin to do it. As herpes flares REQUIRE a lowered immune response in the first place, jack up immune response to prevent more outbreaks. A fellow I know had NO flares when he should have had at least four over a four-month period, by using 4Life Transfer Factor, which is an immune system educator/booster. Point made. Meanwhile, weak connective tissue allows more lesions. More amino acid proline or especially l-lysine, which makes more proline in your body, strengthens connective tissue and is well known to curb herpes outbreaks. Goooogle herpes lysine all good, Duncan Crow (a wholistic consultant in Canada) > > try smearing the coconut oil on it > > that probably will eliminate the rashes after cocnsitent usage > > thank you > > truly yours
Guest guest
DO NOT apply any essential oils like oregano oil directly to the skin especially in highly sensitive areas. The oil needs to be DILUTED FIRST in another benign oil like almond oil. Oregano oil is STRONG STUFF and you don't want it to BURN YOU. phine > > > From: ask and u might receive <brownsuga_n_az@...> > Subject: herpes > Coconut Oil > Date: Thursday, July 2, 2009, 1:15 AM > > > > > > > > > i heard that coconut oil is good for herpes. my gf (yes i am a woman) has herpes and i just found out. she only breaks out when she is on her period, but the weird thing about her herpes is that it isnt spread on her vagina just on her inner thighs. how should she use coconut oil and for how long? she wants to permanently cure it. how long should she wait b4 she has sex? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >

Guest guest
From a Chinese Medicine perspective, herpes is the result of damp heat in the body, possibly fire. Coconut has a warming property, so it probably would not be indicated. It doesn't have a " hot " property, but it's not cooling either. Guest guest
You might also try Suan Zao Ren Tang. Works great for shingles, which is almost the same thing. Guest guest
LOL. I'd try Suan Zao Ren Tang. Chinese herbs are based on the individual's pattern diagnosis, they don't really go by Western diagnoses. But Suan Zao Ren Tang generally works really well for shingles, so you might want to try it. Shingles is Herpes Zoster, which " supposedly " is a slightly different but related virus. Guest guest
No, Razak, it's not that coconut oil won't work on herpes on the skin surface, because herpes is lipid-enveloped, but most of the viruses are under the skin where they are hard to hit with it because skin is relatively impervious to oils. Duncan > > u might be right here Duncan > > we noticed that coconut oil is antiseptic not realy antivirals > > but mightbe good with virus with coated lipid such as HIV etc > > thank you > > truly yours >
Guest guest
Good point about diluting essential oils. Reminds me of the time I, as a child, applied Creolin (a creosote-based flea-bath compound) full strength a few times to a ringworm infection; it took the skin off but the ringworm was gone too Duncan > > > > > > From: ask and u might receive <brownsuga_n_ az@> > > Subject: [coconut_oil_ open_forum] herpes > > coconut_oil_ open_forum > > Date: Thursday, July 2, 2009, 1:15 AM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > i heard that coconut oil is good for herpes. my gf (yes i am a woman) has herpes and i just found out. she only breaks out when she is on her period, but the weird thing about her herpes is that it isnt spread on her vagina just on her inner thighs. how should she use coconut oil and for how long? she wants to permanently cure it. how long should she wait b4 she has sex? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
