Guest guest
Report on PNEUMONIA bout, not preventing, recognizing or treating it. Thanks for asking for a report. Haven't posted in awhile. Haven't posted cause I didn't have anything useful to add. Been WELL... up until, suddenly, I wasn't. And I didn't post after the pneumonia cause I felt too stupid about contracting it and not recognizing I was sick. Folks DIE from pneumonia. All the fine information and wonderful devices are no help at all ... if one's brain cells don't 'kick-in' and the info/devices actually get USED. Follows is the tale of what could have so easily lead to dying. - - - - - I've been WELL, now, for so many years (THANK YOU original Godzilla/6v battery & wire) that I'd gotten complacent, and 'forgotten'. And when I did get sick, didn't realize I was 'sick'...just got feeling worse and worse, 'tho not actually 'barf/sick' to the point of realizing I was SICK. (ei:to me, 'sick' is head-cold stuff or tummy/barf sick) ...just got to the point where for several days felt like doggiedodo, getting worse and worse, was getting harder and harder to breathe, too, and inhaler was seemingly ineffective at relieving the breathlessness. Things came to more clarity when, one morning, daughter roused me and asked was I 'ok'...that I'd still been in that same position, in bed, yesterday. Well, pretty much, no, I wasn't ok, and had pretty much just lain still for days, not even reading, except for occasional toileting trips the last couple of days...and that was difficult to force myself to get up to do, lol, but thankfully the urgency of a full bladder trumps laying still trying to ignore it. After daughter left for work, considered going in to see the doc after the weekend was over, this being Fri morn. Felt so bad, reconsidered, called doc for a 'walk-in' and FORCED self to get up, shower, dress and drive self to the doc...who promptly hospitalized me with pneumonia. Pneumonia? huh? what gives? I've had asthma/crappy lungs/bronchitis my whole life, but I'd NERVER had pneu. So, now it's live and learn and PAY ATTENTION even more...REMEMBER what works when you feel crappy. Perhaps leave self notes about important steps to take when feeling crappy. Yes, I do realize I could have probably 'fixed' the pneu IF I'd recognized that I needed to 'do something' more than just lay still and feel crappier and crappier and have even more difficulty breathing. Oxy deprivation, eh? Well, life and breath are precious and appreciated. Take care, all. regards Lou
