Guest guest
Hey Susie, This could have been me! I am so sorry about your fall, but also pleased you could get up - yes, getting on one's stomach is a good way to start to get up once you assessed yourself. I learned that in PT. Take Care and rest now. The after effects of a fall sometimes hit me the next day. ~ Gretchen Susie Lemin wrote: > BUT I am as naked as the day I was born, could I > really do that? > Pride sometimes really is a bummer aint it..LOL
Guest guest
Well group, They say things always comes in pairs, except this time I was fully dressed and going into a clients home. Who thank the Good Lord is a retired physician/psychiatrist that knows about Charcot-Marie-Tooth. He fussed that I was not using a cane and that maybe I shouldn't be working at all. I asked who he was going to get to come in a feed him his dinners the way he wants them cooked AND served. That shut him up for a while. But he was really interested in my case because he had not seen it develop in an older person. His specialty was Depression due to illnesses. The sad thing is that I am going to lose him soon. He is returning to Boston to live in an elite retirement center there and I won't have a sounding board any more. Bottom line, MY feet aren't deformed (yet) but this CMT seems to be progressing faster than I thought it would. Does a cane sound like a good idea for the time being? It would not bother me to use one, but should I wait to see my doctor first or just go get one? Opinions are welcomed in this home, even after I have heard the old saying about opinions and belly buttons...LOL (different part of the anatomy but lots nicer. Guest guest
I'm no doctor but i can't see any harm in trying a cane. Put it by your chair for a trial period , if you keep getting it to get up and it gives you security against falls then it would seem like a good thing! It will take a little time to learn to use it effectively. (also hand strength ) I back this advice up by ensuring you I KNOW NOTHING,I couldn't help but respond Rocky ----- Original Message ----- From: Susie Lemin Sent: Sunday, January 13, 2002 8:39 PM Subject: Re: [] Susie/ Falling and getting up Well group, They say things always comes in pairs, except this time I was fully dressed and going into a clients home.
