Hello the House,

I believe the length of the operation would be a big factor in

determining the anesthesia. Also some where along the line I believe I read

that they do not like to perform what they call a regional anesthetic on

CMTers(spinals and epidurals) because of the poor transmitting of the CMT

nerves.

The following URL gives a pretty good description in Laymen's terms of

the procedure of applying anesthesia even how young ones are treated. I have

had 7hr and 4hr foot surgery, no need to worry, piece of cake.

I am not having any surgery done as least not that I know of now.

But in the past I have had small things like wisdom teeth and a nerve

biopsy.

And I've had knee surgery before.

I was just wondering about how anesthesia affects

us with CMT and what we need to do differently in case

I have to have any kind of surgery again..

thanks
