, years ago when I was diagnosed the ortho (who also did my

surgery) told me 2 important exercises: 1) swimming and 2) walking in

sand. I loved the beach anyway so it was good news. Later a neuro

suggested I add bike riding, and I still love that too, but not

stationary biking, out doors. I can do a bit of yoga and stretching

inside and garden work now too. Love it all. And when I even do a

little, feel even better.

Perhaps the exercise issue differs person to person since CMT is so

diverse in symptoms. I will say that whatever I do I do in the morming,

as my body AND mind are together in their best form. Sure, don't overdo.

Like when I swim I do about 20 laps in 2 or 3 sets. With 5-10 minutes

rest in between. Biking I do leisurely in my neighborhood, laps around

town too. About 20 minutes worth 2-3 times a week, more when weather is

warm.

Yoga moves I like to do outside on my patio, but my dogs get involved,

so put them in the house. This is best for me right now with my back

injury. I have other exercises to do for my back learned in PT. Only you

know your body and what is enough. I don't push, if I feel the slightest

ache, I stop, and cut back for awhile. Remember, CMT muscles have to

work twice as hard to do half the work.
