Guest guest
I fly quite a bit, mostly on Southwest Airlines. As you may know,Southwest has no meal service, only peanuts. Now I love peanuts. Southwest is quite generous with those little packets of peanuts, however 7 out of 10 paks have no perforation where it says " Open Here " . Although my grip strength is still very good, I have no feeling in my fingertips which makes it impossible to open these peanuts. Not the end of the world but very frustrating. You can not imagine the looks I get at 6ft and 225lbs when I ask the flight attendants to open my peanuts for me. It's hilarious. Guest guest
Bill, You could not have picked a more perfect subject than those damned airline peanuts!!!!!!!!!!!It's an absolute thorn to me. I too can not open those little buggers. They were never a problem before, because I always carry a small pocket knife which I use for so many things in lieu of my lack of fine motor skills. Now, of course, the knife is verbotin on an airplane so I either just put them in my pocket, or my wife opens them if she's with me! As for cutting meat.....I have had to perfect new utensil holding techniques that would probably kill my mother if she were living!!!!We were taught to be absolutely proper at a table and the thought of grasping a knife like I do a garden rake just puts me into hysterics when I think of what the Grand Dame's reaction would be! But hey, we are all compensating for some physical annoyances.....and I for one have no qualms about what it might look like. In my case, things could be a whole lot worse than they are so no complaints from here! Thanks for making me laugh! BobD > I fly quite a bit, mostly on Southwest Airlines. Guest guest
Bob, Hopefully no one from the airlines reads this. I wear a gold chain around my neck with a gold Italian horn. This was given to me by my maternal grandmother when I was 12 years old, other than the times I have had surgery it never comes off my neck. Now the Italian horn is supposed to be a symbol of fertility and a fruitful life, and I can't complain too much. For those of you that don't know, the Italian horn resembles a very shapely woman's leg without a foot, the tip is rather sharp and it makes a great little knife for puncturing peanut packages and the like. I imagine a suitcase key would serve the same purpose if you are traveling alone. Tricks of the trade. Guest guest
Hey thanks Bill !!!!!!!!!!!! You have got me thinking...........awwww man, we're all Germans rather than Italians here. Think a knockwurst would do as well as an Italian horn?????????????? Actually, I'd rather have the cute stewardess make a fuss over me!!!!!!! I know, I know.......I'll behave..............BobD > > > I fly quite a bit, mostly on Southwest Airlines. As you may > > know,Southwest > > > has no meal service, only peanuts. Now I love peanuts. Guest guest
Me thinks you would have quite an entourage if you hung a knockwurst from your neck, mostly stray dogs of course. Now as far as the flight attendants go, (if you use the word " stewardess " in California you go to prison. Southwest employs flight attendants of both sexes in about a 50/50 split so I have to use the horn about half the time.
