Guest guest
Please do go get them and don't be like my son. He is fitted for them, has them and WONT wear them. I personally think this is foolish. It keeps him from falling. I thought I didn't or wouldn't have any problems with CMT as I was past 50. Well I was VERY WRONG!!!. About 2 months ago I started showing strong symptoms, that were being diagnosed as something else. I went home and thought it over, did some research here on the computer and guess what?! I do have it and it is progressing fast. I had not fallen since I had ankle surgery in 1987 or so and started it all over again. I can barely make it up the 3 steps (steep ones) without holding on to the rails and pulling myself up them. My waddle had become worse, my knees are shot and my hands are " going west when I am headed south " . I went back to my doctor and told him about the CMT in my family. He almost hit the roof, apologized for not making a note in my file and misdiagnosing me. I now have a tri-pod walker, because the cane didn't keep me from falling. The next step I suppose is AFO's when the time comes. I will wear them and my purple ribbons, (which I have duplicated and made one for every outfit I have) If you need AFO's WEAR them! The consequences are worse than the embarrassment of not wearing them. OK I am off my soap box. God Bless you and keep you from harm. Susie I am considering> ....and know I will > go...at least to get fitted ....sooner THAN > later....and then I will > go from there. I know with time I will find the > strength to > sincerely say " to hell with what other people > think " ....I am getting > there.....but these are my first steps. __________________________________________________
