Guest guest
I just recently stopped taking Cymbalta. Everyone has a different body chemistry so I am sure that there are people who have success on the drug. Just not me. It changed my depression from lethargic and crying to just pissed off. I had sexual side effects and weight gain. The only thing worse than being on that stuff was coming off. The company claims there are no withdrawal symptoms PAH!!! I beg to differ. I was on the verge of psychotic. That is definitely not the med for everyone. I made the personal decision to discontinue any depression med. I am a 29 year old married mother of 4. I joke that I was born depressed but it is almost true. I was diagnosed by 10. I have been dealing with this my ENTIRE life. I am using meditation and relaxation techniques to deal with anxiety and just doing the best I can. After the Cymbalta nightmare I am afraid to try any other medication. Before this I was on Zoloft which wasn't working for me. Also Cymbalta can have terrible sweating as a side effect. It did improve after weeks and weeks but didn't ever stop completely. All of my best to you and your Husband. I have a lot of compassion for the spouse in this situation. I can plainly see how difficult this has been on my husband. Namaste, Melony With our thoughts, we make our world. ~Buddha~ Medicine question Hi all, here I am again hoping to get some real answers. My husband, the one with back and neck BIG problems, is getting more and more depressed due to his constant pain despite taking meds. His day ends at 3PM. So, he was/is on Prozac. His PP gave him Cymbalata and put him on slow acclimating with Cymbalta.(he still take small doses of Prozac) I have read some info on the web and my God..scary...people commit suicide while taking this drug. I have read nothing really good. I already noticed that he is getting more sensitive and emotional... Is anyone on this board on Cymbalta? Any issues? He also takes small hypertension meds and of course pain medication (Kadian and Lortba). As always thank for help. Have a wonderful painless evening. Izabela and Tom **************It's Tax Time! Guest guest
Hello Izabela and Tom, Well, I was going to answer your questions saying I am doing fine on Cymbalta but, after reading some of the post, I would say I have some of the issues, Sweats, wight gain I am not sure how it helps me with depression etc... I have been on something since my sister passed away 4 years ago before the pain really changed my life. I couldn't stop crying I have been on at least 4 diff pills. I thought Wellbutron(sp) really made me feel better however, it also made me so dizzy I felt drunk. So I think I will talk with my doctor, however, I dont think I can handle withdraw.... Good Luck, I know there are many so I am sure you will find something. I wish someone was in the Tampa Bay Area of Florida that wouldn't mind a face to face meeting? Guest guest
Dear Deborah, If/When you decide to discontinue the Cymbalta please do as much research online as you can. Unfortunately people have not had very good support from their doctors. There are quite a few places online where people discuss it. I even read about people opening the capsules and counting the little time release " balls " inside. I am SO glad I checked before I went off the medication and had an idea what to expect. Otherwise I would have ended up hospitalized. I have NEVER been so " disturbed " feeling in my life. Please be VERY careful just in case. Guest guest
HI, i was just put on cymbalta last friday 30 mg for the first month then upped to 60 mg the following month i had heard horror stories also about this medication, but actually all the antidepressants have about the same horror stories connected to them, my understanding is people have different reactions to the drug my doctor said to be very aware at first of any worsening of symptoms if i had any to call him immediatly. also he said younger people like teens thru 24 yrs are the ones supposedly more likely to have worse thoughts of suicide.i dont know how old your husband is so if he is worse i would definatly see his doctor.also befor i took my first dose i went online to research this drug this page was helpful to me,hope it helps you. http://www.drugs.com/cymbalta.html --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? I've been on cymbalta for at least a year. 60mg 1x day. I haven't notice any negative side effects. I can't say I'm Mr. Happy, but I think they help. Like others stated, if you research any of those class of drugs, they all have some horror stories, and it effects people differently. Like when you read about a med that can make you excitable or Drowsy, well that's too opposite side effects from the same med. Dave
