(J. of Viral Hepatology Dec. 2010) Learn more Alcohol and Diabetes Predict Poor Outcomes in Hepatitis B Older patients and men with chronic hepatitis B infection are more likely to progress to liver cancer, decompensated cirrhosis, and liver-related death, while Asian patients had lower progression rates, according to a Kaiser Permanente study which Dr. Manos presented at the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases annual meeting in November. Diabetes and heavy alcohol use also predicted poor outcomes.
