Guest guest
My neutrophil count is within normal limits so I guess mid September before beginning interferon I will get the vaccine like my oncology doc suggested. We will see thanks for the info. Em From: Hepatitis C [mailto:Hepatitis C ] On Behalf Of GlennR Sent: Monday, August 29, 2011 1:03 AM Hepatitis C Subject: Re: Shingles shot I posted this question on Dr. Palmer's WebMd page. Her response: Palmer, MD responded: There are no contraindications for a person with HCV to get the shingles vaccine. However if your neutrophil count ( a subset of the white blood cells) is under 750, for any reason, such as due to interferon treatment, vaccination should be delayed. Your doctor can determine your neutrophil count through a blood test. > > See this the crap I get all bent out of shape over. Do you take the darn vaccine or not? Who really knows. I just know the dang shingles hurts like hell and now I have herpetic neuralgia which some days I barely walk. I still have not taken the dang vaccine. But if I do I will let you know the outcome. > > > > > > From: Hepatitis C <mailto:Hepatitis C%40> [mailto:Hepatitis C <mailto:Hepatitis C%40> ] On Behalf Of deborah brown > Sent: Friday, August 26, 2011 1:24 PM > Hepatitis C <mailto:Hepatitis C%40> > Subject: Re: Shingles shot > > > > > > the shinles shot is for shingles NOT FOR THE LIVER. Guest guest
I think the wisest thing would be to discuss it with your Liver Doctor. However according to the Immunization Action Coalition there are 9 Immunization that anyone who has Hep-C should have. The Shingles vaccine IS one of them after age 60, but given your ongoing problems, I would think your Liver Doctor would recommend it, but this is something you will have to decide once you do some research and get all the facts. There is allot of controversy these days about the safety of immunizations. The list of all 9 recommended immunizations can be found at : http://www.immunize.org/catg.d/p4042.pdf , Thanks Sun, Aug 28, 2011 at 8:29 PM, Haj <emily_sweethang@...>wrote: > ** > > > See this the crap I get all bent out of shape over.
