Guest guest
I have a siuation and I'm not sure how to deal with it. I wrote earlier about an adjustment done on neck by a chiropractor that had been informed of my neck fusion. He did an adjustment but I noticed was a little rough so I reminded him of my fusion. Every since then, my neck cracks and sends pain into my head. My neck pain is more severe. I went back to the clinic and told my regular chiropractor. He took a side view x-ray and said everything looked ok and that adjustment might have irritated it. It doesn't feel ok and it feels more than irritated. I don't have insurance and don't want to keep going back and throwing money at this. Should I just go straight to the Texas Board of Chiropractors and complain or what? Has anyone been hurt by adjustments?
Guest guest
, YES, someone has been hurt by (chiropractic) adjustments! All three members of my family that went to the chiropractor last year and before, have decided not to set foot in one again. And that includes my 18-year old daughter (spine fusion at L5-S1 for transitional / segmental vertebrae also found to be ruptured disk and DDD, just before last Christmas), my 15-year old daughter (left elbow injury, now finding cervical radiculopathy and just recently diagnosed with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome), plus my own experience just a few years ago (fusion at L4-L5 with DDD, lordosis, spondylolesthesis, etc.). This chiropractor, I think he does not know anything specific, he just does the same thing to everybody. He did the same thing to my daughters as he did to me, even though one of my daughters didn't have anything in the lumbar or thoracic region going on). I hope there are some good chiropractors out there, but so far my recommendation is to find a good Physical Therapy person. Guest guest
Debbie, Did you or your family suffer from bad adjustments? the clinic I went to has 3 chiropractors. I normally see one of them but that day I was seeing another one for about the 3rd time. My usual one wasn't there that day. It had been at least a few weeks since I saw this one. He was getting rough making adjustments on my neck. When he asked me to lay on my back, my head was in his hands and I said I have a fusion C5-6. He hesitated at that and said thanks for reminding him which meant he had forgotten I had one. I think you are right about these guys just doing the same thing to everyone and not really knowing or caring about our specific problem. My neck is still crunching/popping on my right side of neck and sending pain to shoulder and giving me headaches. This has NEVER happened before I got that treatment and started when I left his office. I'm waiting till I get insurance (hopefully soon to be employed with benefits) then get MRI maybe. I've had to complain to the owner about waiting in a room over 30 min and then the pain doc acting like I was just there to get good drugs and tired of going to complain but tired of dealing with this. I did go back to the one I normally go to and explained it to him. He took a side view x ray and said everything looked intact. I'm not convinced. > > , YES, someone has been hurt by (chiropractic) adjustments! Guest guest
Like i just told robert, i basically like chiropracters and believe it helps. Same here tho. I went to a fill in guy, and my body just did NOT like the way he adjusted me. By the time i got back to my chiro, I was a mess. But i dont think(altho i dont know either) that you were permently injured. It really might be a phase your neck is going thru. I know my neck causes all kinds of head pains, and tends to do something for awhile, then it changes to something else. I hope you werent hurt.!!!!! I really mean that, cause we all have enough problems. A good experienced one should be able to handle a fusion patient, but There are quacks in all fields. Tell your regular chiro and have him check you, if you are comfortable with him. Guest guest
Sounds like you need CT or MRI. X-rays are nothing when there is soft tissue injury. And that may be all that you have. Debbie Dahl
Guest guest
My neck isn't getting any better and I suffer from sharp pain shooting up into my forehead. I'm tryong to rest on my days off. I hope to have insurance soon and will get to a doc. This is all from the chiro in Dec. Before that, my pain was very different mainly present as shoulder knots. This is freaking me out a little but I'm probably over reacting. Thanks for all your feedback. > > Sounds like you need CT or MRI. X-rays are nothing when there is soft tissue injury. Guest guest
I would like anyone's opinion on how to proceed with this injury. My headaches are constant with sharp pain in forehead and sometimes other parts. I'm pretty sure something is wrong and still don't have insurance. I thought about going back to chiro and telling him my symptoms but would they really pay for an MRI? Also, If I get insurance, I don't want insurance company to find out that the injury occurred before the insurance took effect or they won't cover it. I don't ever want another adjustment on any part of my body again. I'm not a confrontational person so am reluctant to contact chiro about this. Any feedback? Thanks rmp > > > > Sounds like you need CT or MRI. X-rays are nothing when there is > soft tissue injury. So it will be difficult, but maybe you ought to tho? Because a dentist hurt me for life and till this day, i am paying out of my pocket for it. He knows too. Guest guest
It is a hard decision for sure with you not having insurance.. Some insurance companies Will handle previous things depending on what they are. But most won't. What kind of insurance are you trying to get on.. Guest guest
It is called Burden of Proof in the legal world and you can hire a lawyer if you have a case against the Dr. He will take a percentage if f he wins the case for you---it is at least worth looking into? Burden of proof is a difficult thing to prove--- start with getting your records from the Dr that hurt you and as I always do I get ALL my records each time. if you can prove that the Dr did indeed do what they call malpractice then you might have a case. My neck pain trigger muscle points up my neck and I get a migraine. My shoulders knot up also. A massage therapist explained to me that it is a result of toxins normally released by muscle tissue action, get stuck in the tissues and cause pain. The PA at pain mangement told me that dull, sharp, or shooting pain is usually due to muscles and burning pain is nerve pain. Which I get both. Debbie is right you should get a Ct or MRI. A CT takes alot less time. Are you getting private insurance? When I looked into private insurance, that's the only time I have been told that they would not pay for pre-existing conditions. All the other insurances have paid. I really needed an insurance that would pay, since I have the neck problem, depression and diabetes. Hang in there and try to relax as much as you can. I find that when I get anxious and tense up, my neck really gets bad. Guest guest
I've decided to wait for insurance and not confront doc and go through the whole can I prove thing. I still have strength in arms and hands, no dizzy spells or anything of the like and no incontinence which is supposed to be a symptom of nerve damage. I know I will be offered a job any day now (heard it through the grapevine) and will just wait until I get to PCP. Thanks for all your feedback. > > > > > > > > Sounds like you need CT or MRI. Guest guest
Hi Tami, I can relate to the headaches and neck issues you are experiencing..my neck is so bad that I was told by my dr to never let a chiro touch it nor can I get injections right into my neck they have to be given lower between my shoulder area to try to prevent further damage. Even tho I am on heavy duty pain killers ..they never seem to help me with the headaches one thing that does however is taking Excedrin migraine meds you can purchase OTC..thought I would pass that on ..these pills do have asprin and caffeine in them so make sure you are alright with that before taking them. Good luck and I hope you can get some relief soon `*`*Kathy*`*` Stressed is just desserts spelled backwards A true friend walks in when the rest of the world walks out. Guest guest
Does anyone get colored spots with their headaches or at intermittent times? I've had my neck pain for 21/2 month and have been going to physical Therapy. I haven't had an x-ray or MRI done yet. TIA Jackie Re: Re:Chiropractor hurt neck Hi Tami, I can relate to the headaches and neck issues you are experiencing. .my neck is so bad that I was told by my dr to never let a chiro touch it nor can I get injections right into my neck they have to be given lower between my shoulder area to try to prevent further damage. Guest guest
Jackie, Any smell or color when a headache come on usually indicates a migraine-- and that is what they call an " aura " , I believe. I have had strange odors from time to time and my headaches started about 2 years ago after I got beaten up by a person that was staying in my home because he lost his own home and I was trying to be a good Christian. He was a drunk and I did not know that he was violent. (Things that you learn after you turn 50 may surprise you.) Anyway Isince then have had migraines and I think he also may have been responsible for my cervical disc problems although proving that would be difficult. Any burden of proof is hard to prove in any case. That and punitive damages after having a father who practiced Law for over 60 years and growing up in the legal milieu I do know about some of the practice of law by process of osmosis. Does this help? Sincerely, Annie Jackie Wimberly <booklvr888@...> wrote: Does anyone get colored spots with their headaches or at intermittent times? Guest guest
Thanks. So sorry about your experience. I'm over 50 too and have learned a lot. It has not hardened me but has changed my perspective on human nature.
