Guest guest
Susie, well, why not try a cane. Search our archives for some good 'cane' information. Make sure you get a proper one for your height and one with rubber on the bottom. Don't wait for CMT to 'happen' - I mean, wear good shoes and take care of your feet AND the rest of you too! Sounds like there's quite a bit of stress going on in your life now. ~ Gretchen Susie Lemin wrote: > He fussed that I was not using a > cane and that maybe I shouldn't be working at all. > Bottom line, MY feet aren't deformed (yet) but this > CMT seems to be progressing faster than I thought it > would. Guest guest
Be careful as you learn, you start to trust them and then you come in from outside with a wet stopper on the bottom it can be very very very slippery- you will find giving up a hand to carry cane a pain + many other less than perfect things about a cane ( hand pain is a problem for me). Give it a fair trial period to get at ease with it, then, if you still pick it up its good Even if you determine that it is not for you , it still may be useful in certain circumstances (ice, Garbage out etc... It is in my opinion a good skill (use of cane) to have. I like wood but start with aluminum because they are adjustable. Like Gretchen said get a good one. (most important part is what touches the ground) I love canes! Stop by and I will lend you one, I have a whole collection! Since I started wearing AFO's I use my canes less, but they are perfect for a night when I take a break from AFO's. Questions------please ask I am a human archive.
