Hi Debbie,

I'm on Lyrica also and after my last increase I did start having knee pain and

wondered the same thing you are. I had xrays & a MRI, which revealed a tear,

arthritis and something with my kneecaps (can't remember the name for it). I saw

an ortho and he said the pain and swelling was coming from my kneecaps and that

it's been going on for a long time (weird- never had knee pain before). I know

Lyrica can cause swelling so I still wonder if the swelling & Lyrica are

related. The tops of my knees get so swollen they are bigger then my thighs and

it gets pretty painful and very hard to sit, get up, walk up/down stairs, ect.

I don't have any ankle pain but I doknow ankle swelling (and hands, feet & face)

is a side effect of the Lyrica. You should talk to your Dr about this. Speaking

of Dr's; did you get a new one? If so hopefully he/she is not afraid to treat

your pain!

Take care!

Hugs,

Happy Holidays!

Just realized that I should have added that in the subject line.

Hi ! Great to hear from you! That's good to know although I'm

sorry that you're having these side effects too, and more.

You pretty much nailed it, it feels like I've got swelling inside my

knee caps, ankles & feet and other joints too...it's a new sensation

for me with the knees & stuff, I'm used to sciatic but this is

different. My increase in lyrica is at bedtime, a double dose and if

I have to get out bed during the night or especially in the morning

it's really painful to walk. I guess I can't say I'm in more pain,

just different pain and more in my back lately too which I attribute

to doing too much. That's the kind that works it's way into your

dreams...so your actually dreaming that you're in pain and need to

find your brace or your meds, then you wake up and realize it's

because you are feeling it so strong. Does that happen to anyone else

or am I just weird!?

I still have the same doctor, I just really don't want to go through

all the work it would take to switch and I know he is very

sympathetic to how I feel and is doing what he honestly feels is best

for me. I'm managing okay now without that fentynal patch and just

oral meds., he actually did me a favor by getting me off of it (rough

as that was). I don't really think it helped that much more, you know

how you kind of just get used to it and then your body adjust to

having the med and you feel the pain anyways.

Really not much going on with me, just pushing still to see how long

I can last without getting injection, epidurals or RF's since they

always wear off anyways and my doc told me about the build up of

those meds after long term use isn't good either, a matter of pick

your poison I suppose.

Thanks ! Happy Holidays to you (and Louie) too!

Hugs!
