Guest guest
, What is he on the Oxy for? I've taken this med for a couple years and despite of what the media likes to tell you, I never got " stoned out " on them. Everyone is different but the stuff you hear on the news is from people crushing them, snorting them, to break the time release o the med, then they do get " stoned " because they get the entire dose at once instead on over 12 hours like it is intended. My only concern with someone older and someone who has COPD is this med can depress breathing. I'm sure though this is not a worry or his Dr wouldn't have given them to him. Like others said, take the gun, he doesn't need one and more then likely would be the one getting hurt from it. Tae care and talk to his Dr about your concerns. > > Hey you guys. Guest guest
, Did you look into getting POA and also taking out a restraining order against the man that comes around and clear-cuts your wood, etc? AS for the meds--- I would highly suggest that you speak frankly to the Dr about your father. I myself called my parents' Dr and did not mince words in regards to my 89 year old mother who is care-taking my ill 88 year old father who is arrogant, narcissistic, and demanding and because of that phone call it will put some action behind my concerns for by November my father will go into nursing home. My mother has done everything she can and she has reached the end of her rope. Just because you are young and vital does not mean that you do not have a rope either. There just comes to a time when that decision needs to be made and intervention helps. AgainI would be honest with the Dr, and take that gun away and stash it somewhere before dementia and circumstances kills someone. - - - -but just my opinion---- Take care, Annie > > Hey you guys. Never.Yea i am reaching that point too. enough is enough. thanks Ann. > > > > Hey you guys. Guest guest
Hey ! I hear ya! It isn't easy to deal with that, I'm dealing with it too as you know. There comes a time though that you'll need to talk to his doctor and whether he agree's or not you will be the one responsible for everything regading him. Some helpful intervention would be good, better to do a little homework now so that you're prepared for it when it happens. We got caught of guard, knew it was coming but thought plenty of time and wish I knew more about it all. Regarding the Oxy's, I've been on them, never got 'stoned out' off them but have seen people that have when they are taken the wrong way. I would say that their thinking was not only depressed, but aggitated and not thinking clearly...even though they thought they were. Even if your dad isn't perhaps taking them in an addictive mannor he's not taking them as directed if he's drinking a lot on top of them, that could 'kick them in' so to say which wouldn't be a good mix with his COPD ... and since they say the bad side effect of too much or a reaction is depressed respitory, that's just not a good mix. Let alone the other medications too....and a gun. Anyone could get hurt accidentally, it's kind of russian roulette. You are in my prayers! Hang in there! Hugs! Debbie > > > > > > Hey you guys. Guest guest
Hey there. I'm new here but when I read this post it got my attention quick. I personally would not allow anyone that I love to take oxy on their own. I would only let them have it as I hand it to them, IF there are any chemical abusive tendancies what so ever! Personally I believe that this is what my dad overdosed on...but I will never be able to prove it. He was already buried when we realized that there were too many missing from his bottle. (16 to be exact) The doctors said it was a heartattack but my dad had drug abuse tendancies......LONG story short..... ITs VERY addicting. It affects people differently too. When I take it, I get very short of breath, stoned feeling and feel like I'm gonna die. I almost went to the er because I got so scared! When my husband takes it...he says he cant even tell... Be very careful with oxycodone PLeAsE. Liz The Pets Pal http://360./petspal2003 --------- OXY'S????? advice please???? > > > > > Hey you guys. How bad do those Oxycottons stone a person out? Guest guest
, I forgot to mention in this email that he had gotten out of the hospital 3 days before recieving this med. In other words, there were 16 pills missing and he had only had the bottle filled 3 days before dying. 16 pills in 3 days....and that was not counting what the bottle said to take! Dad always had a high pain med tolerance. In other words, instead of taking 1 darvocet he would take 2 or 3. All I'm trying to tell you is that if your dad has those tendancies, BE careful. Guest guest
LIZ? I know, thats why I asked. Becaue i figured a few people here had taken them for pain, but of course we are all younger, so it isnt as bad on us. 80 years old and has oxy's. They say they can kill you!!! especially if you drink. So i was counting them, and he noticed too. Course he is getting senile, and probably figured i wanted them. But he was acting so WEIRD and stoned out. I just couldnt believe they gave him those pills! I better watch more carefully. Liz 16 missing? oh my god, that is awful what happened to your father. Someone else posted the top ten dangerous medicines, and oxy was right up top. > > > > Hey there.
