Guest guest
Hi , I have not had any problems with weak bones, or any breaks - yet! Considering my lifetime fall record, I just consider myself lucky. My diet has always been rich in calcium. I too am the only one with CMT. Avoid falling is good advice, we all try, but then sometimes 'it happens'! Nora may not like this idea, but if she does fall frequently, consider a jazzy painted cane or something! > She recommended trying to avoid falling. > > So do any of you, or members of your family with CMT, have problems with > weak bones? (Nora is the only person in our families with CMT.)
Guest guest
, I have RSD and CMT. I have very weak bones in the last 15 years that I have had RSD. I have broken my ankle Rt foot 4 times . since I was diagnosed with CMT (but was never told what type I have) I have broken my rt foot and my last break was LT ankle and 3 of my toe bones from the top of my foot. I was told to stay out of my garage and away from my wood working equipment while the weather is cold . I live in Central Ca. so our cold spells don't last long . Like many others I just stood up from sitting at my scroll saw and heard the bones break. So I believe that it goes with the territory. They advise you not to fall but never can tell you how to prevent it none of us fall on purpose that would really be dumb just about as dumb as telling us that. I asked my physical therapist to help me learn how to fall without hurting if that was possible. His teaching me various ways to land if at all possible and it does help I've falling a few times this winter and escaped breaking anything just ended up with a few bruises so sometimes do help.
