Guest guest
Hi, My hubby picked up my meds for me yesterday. I got a package that said rebetron and can't believe it cost my insurance company $1188! I only paid my usual $10. I knew this stuff was expensive, but that seems alot for a 28 day supply. Anyway got 2 pens (for 4 weeks???) and 2 bottles of remerol (ribivarin), extra needles and alcohol swabs. It is Infergen, IntronA with ribivarin. I thought you couldn't get these together? So my doctor did good? Pulled a rabbit from the hat? LOL Not sure how many extra needles, didn't count them yet. I start with my 1st injection this Weds., and have a few questions. First of all I've been warned of the headaches from ribivarin--do regular headaches meds work on those? Second, how did you guys distract yourself that 1st day, from sitting there waiting for symptoms and sides??? I get my 1st shot at 2:15pm so chances are I will " feel " it before bedtime. I'm tempted to ask for a sleeping pill to knock me out so I won't sit there all anxious waiting to see what happens. Of course I know they won't give me the pill. How do I distract myself? The usual answering email or playing spades on mplayer I don't think will suffice, LOL Hugs,

Guest guest
sorry I'm doing this rather distractedly.. grandkids are keeping me busy.. oh sleeping pill... get something over the counter if you need it. And my advice would be to do first shot the evening before you start your weekend/time off work (if you work). Like a friday nite. My doc suggested that and it was great advice even tho I didnt' need it, cause I too worried about sides. alley/ ICQ 12631861 alleypat@... http://www.flash.net/~alleypat
Guest guest
Intron A and Ribivarin is the Combo. Not all people have the same side effects. --- WebMistress <gina@...> wrote: > Hi, > My hubby picked up my meds for me yesterday. > I got a package that said rebetron and can't believe > it cost my > insurance company $1188! Guest guest
This is called the Rebetron Combo Kit and that is why you got all of it together. There should be a pen with 6 injections in it a package of 6 screw on needles and a bottle of 84 Ribavirin pills in it my husbands are 200 mg each on the pills. You should have of got 2 boxes just like this. We get 3 boxes at a time where you got 2. We pay $15.00 for 6 weeks worth and our insurance company pays $2301 for it. So yes we know how expensive it is and thank the good Lord for Insurance. Did the box have 1200/Pen on it also? Don't worry about the side effects or you will go crazy. It hit my husband really hard and still does some days. Hope you are like Alley and don't have much problems with it. I am so happy for her and others that don't have as much problems with it as my husband but he has other problems and his liver was in pretty bad shape by the time we found out that he had the Hep C. Think positive about it. Pray to the Lord for his help also and you will make it through the treatment. How many of the pills do you take a day when you get started on it? You will be in our prayers that you get through this without many problems and get that dragon to sleep and keep it that way. Hang in there and think positive girl. Guest guest
--- WebMistress <gina@...> wrote: > Second, how did you guys distract yourself that 1st > day, from > sitting there waiting for symptoms and sides??? Dear , Well, you could rent a really great movie, and pretend to watch it, or buy a really good book and pretend to read it! LOL Let's face it, probably nothing will really distract you. After all, you've never done this before, so you are going to be nervous, excited, scared .... If you are tired when you get home from the doctor's office you might try taking a nap. If you have typical sides chances are you won't be able to sleep through them anyway. I had terrible, painful spasms and rigidity in my muscles, especially in my legs. (Those started about 7 hours after the injection - only had a headache and some mild fever up till then.) Believe me, there was no sleeping through that! That's also about the time I started having chills and running a higher fever. I have often felt like if I had been less exhausted it would have been MUCH easier to deal with if I had been able to get up and walk around, instead of just laying on the bed suffering. That first injection is rough usually, but keep telling yourself that the next ones aren't as bad. Most people find the first couple of weeks are the hardest, although if you get really anemic that can really drag you down. Start drinking extra water even before your injection. In fact, start the day before and increase your water intake. You can get really dehydrated from these meds. Good luck! ===== Claudine claudinecrews@... __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi all, I incorrectly reported that I had infergen and IntronA. I had mis-read it, it is just IntronA. Hope I didn't confuse anyone too much, LOL I've been quite befuddled the last few days myself. Also I didn't get " extra " needles, I just got enough for all the different Rx'd injections with the pen. I figured out how I will distract myself--renting stand up comedy videos Also there is now some question as the whether I will be able to start Tx just yet--it seems my constant daily low-grade fevers might be contraindicated with Tx. Not sure why none of my doctors ever picked up on this and it is something I have to discuss before getting that 1st injection. Might need a course of antibiotics before starting, will see on Weds.
