Guest guest
I am seriously thinking of using a walker when we go on our next trip - walking through the airport really takes the stamina from me - what types do you recommend and how do you know if or when you need one? martha Susie Lemin <slemin46@...> wrote: I thought I was the only one who walked like a " drunk " . I also notice it when using my walker, I told me friend that the silly thing had been drinking again. No seriously, I don't think I have the leg movements at night, although when sitting for a time, like here on the pc they jerk and act like they need to move or stretch or something other than what I am doing. It gets very tiresome and that's a fact. i get get up and go to the kitchen or bathroom, just to give them something else to do. If I thought I was sitting too much I wouldn't be concerned, but I am up and down a lot and still work so it can' be that they are just needing exercise. Guest guest
Martha, I would rather use a wheelchair at the airport or other places that require a lot of walking and little time to get there. My walker is great for short trips to the store from the parking lot, then I use the electric buggies inside the store. My arms and hands ache more than my feet and legs do while using the walker, but it does keep me off the floor. The tri-pod (3 wheelers) are really easy to use and put in the car. You can get a tote bag for them too. They squeeze into tight places that the sqaure (4 legged) kind can't and they can be out of the way in resturants. But the basic line of thought is, which one will be best for you and the activeties you use? To your husband, Tell him to hold his head up high and push you in the W/C and forget who may be watching. No one is most likely, it just feels that way. At the airport, if you have a tight schedule and are making changes make use of the attendants that are there to help you. They have the electric cars there for a reason. To get the passangers and their baggage to the next terminal in the least amount of time as not to hold up the plane or progress. My Mother went to Germany and was made aware of the electric cars and why they were used. She had polio with cancer on top of that. She went to visit my brother stationed in Germany. Of course my mother could have been the Queen Mother as far as anyone else knew, she was treated so well. Somehow,My Queen of a Mother, ended up in first class even when she had regular coach tickets. This was before smoking was banned on flights and she coughed when someone lit up and she was moved behind the curtains ASAP. She told me once, ACT like you know what, where and why you are doing what you are doing and as if you knew the person with whom you are speaking. You get better results.. she also said once that Teddy Roosevelt was correct is saying Walk (Talk) softly and carry a big stick. IN OTHER WORDS FAKE IT, WHEN IN DOUBT! Me, I like the one A. Heinlin wrote in one of his books, quoted by Lazarus Long, aka Woodrow Long. " When in doubt, Run in circles Scream and Shout " someone will come to the rescue.
