Guest guest
Thanks Melody and Judy, I still haven't made up my mind (lots of really slow moving machinery)I'm waiting untill second nerve conduction study is complete. One question: Has anybody experienced trouble during the ncv like this? I was hooked up and shocked a couple times, the Dr. then moved the pickup and shocked me again, grumbling about the machine reading " garbage " . I then remembered that this happened at OSU and they hooked the second machine up before realizing that the machine was OK, it was I that was garbage. I am assuming that there was an axonal loss (heard comments to that effect) but haven't been told a thing. This last time the doc said my ncv's weren't slow but there was " another problem " .(After he confirmed that the machine was OK on my left leg). By the way, my family are type 2's. Guest guest
Dear Jim, I have to convey my recent EmG experience. It was a neuro in training that did most of it, then the MDA neurologist came in and looked on. They kept jacking up the shock. They could get no response, and the neurologist kinda went 'oh my'. They hesitantly said I had no real muscle left, just fibrous tissue (below the knee). They both seemed rather aloof after that, said I could get dressed, and left the room. No one came back to give me testing details. I mean, before the test the neuro thought I looked pretty darn good for a 46 yr old CMTer. I guess the results kinda 'shocked' him! LOL Anyway, I felt like they were kindof avoiding me. (It's ok guys, I've been this way for a lo-o-o-ong time). Maybe they think I'll be in really bad shape 10 yrs from now - I dunno - but it was interesting.
