And supposedly a)iron will build up in our livers and that is bad for it, and the virus thrives in an iron rich environment. So this would tend to agree with what you are remembering. But the solution (so I've heard!) to this is to only take vit. C between meals, not with, and to take calcium with meals to inhibit iron absorpion.
