Guest guest
Hi there, I wasn't treated with the teleprevir. I was treated with a Pharmasset drug along with the interferon. My viral load was at 9 million when I started. What you can look forward to is a rapid decline in viral load and a years' worth of misery. But prolly not as miserable as it was for you before. Make sure they get you on an antidepressant before you start the treatment. Some people get put on two antidepressants. It's not going to be a fun year but you'll probably get through it this time and the success rates look really good. Make sure you have a network of friends standing by to help out. Reach out when you need help. That's all I can think of. Good luck!! Do not drink and my liver function tests are normal but very high viral load.Is anyone else treating with this added to the combo. Shot is only once a week instead of the old 3 times a week.I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could tell me what to expect. I start in a few weeks. > >
Guest guest
The Dr. told me 6 months tops that teleprevir reduces the time. I would not sign on to a 1 year program but wait until something else comes along. Last time they waited too long to put me on an antidepressant and I had no support at home as my husband was working in another state. This time he will be with me to make sure I eat right. The eating was a big problem for me ( and drinking all the water). What antidepressant did they give you? My viral load was 0 when I stopped the treatment after 6 months but it came back with a vengence. But my liver got a rest.My liver function tests are normal but I never touch a drink, not even a glasss of wine on a weekend. > > > I am new to the group so let me introduce myself. Guest guest
Zolette, Nice to meet you, I am in pretty much the same boat. I have genotype 1a/b, I did 8 months of torture with interferon in 2008. I am just waiting for the medication to be approved by my oncologist now. I will be taking infergen ( alpha-interferon) and will take 3 shots per week. So. will see and hopefully I will get this mess approved soon. My doc has spent hours on the phone for the last 2 weeks trying to get this medication approved. My viral load is like 5 million but when I started the first mess of meds it was at 12 million. I don't drink either. I did for years, as well as iv drug use. I am a nurse. Have been living drug free for several years now. My doc keeps calling me sorry I have not gotten this stuff approved yet. I say well I have had this crap for years I don't think it is going to kill me in the next few weeks if we don't get the meds right away. My only worry is having to miss work. My hubbers is out of work right now but he is on the hunt hard and heaving and got a few bites this week so we will see... Life is good and I am not going to sit around and cry about it I have too much life to live. I am not letting this monkey drag me down. Yall have a wonderful day!
