FDA Panel Unanimously Approves Experimental Hepatitis Drug From Vertex Pharma

From the PharmaLive.com News Archive - Apr. 29, 2011

An FDA panel said an experimental hepatitis C drug from Vertex Pharmaceuticals

is a significant step forward in treating the virus, despite a high rate of

rashes among patients taking the tablet. The panel voted unanimously, 18-0, that

the drug is a safe and effective treatment for hepatitis C. On Wednesday the

same panel unanimously recommended approval for Merck's drug boceprevir.
