Guest guest
, yes, CMT and all the types, signs and symptoms vary greatly. If I were in your shoes and needing further diagnosis, I would get additional opinions. Can't remember if your mentioned your EMG results or not. Also, have you had any other neurological tests to rule OUT other disorders, (biopsy, tap, etc) as there are plenty, similiar symmptoms can show in other diseases. CMT is so incredibly variable in the way we are all affected and live. If it helps at all, I am asymetric. Maybe Paolo can give you some feedback. ~ G

I've wondered about this whenever I read a posting that someone does not really know if they have CMT. And yes, I went through all the horrid shock tests and needle poking which showed many things, but was not proof that I had CMT. ( But I am SURE that my neuro doc KNEW what she was looking for, even though my folks were deceased and never showed any signs of CMT.) The very next test she ordered was a DNA study. Bingo.........The exact gene had the exact mutation and the lab said " YUP " that's what ya got Bob! I did a lot of homework about CMT and the reliability of DNA testing through friends of mine at State University of New York at Stony Brook. What I discovered is that the DNA test is greater than 99% accurate. With this in mind, why should anyone " not know " if they have CMT or not? Please share your thoughts.........As always, BobD --- In @y..., Gretchen Glick <liliwigg@s...> wrote: > , yes, CMT and all the types, signs and symptoms vary greatly.
