Guest guest
Hi , Thanks for the mail. I am 26, I enlisted in the army in nov.2000, it has taken them this long to figure out what is wrong with me. Not because they couldn't, but because when you are in the army you tend to get sucked into a messed up system by most doctors on post who think you are " faking " or just trying to get out of work. This past year has been a nightmare for me. It started out right at the end of basic, i fell out of a ten mile road march and after that i began to notice that something just wasn't right. I could still function but it was getting hard for me to run because i got pains shooting into my knee. When i finally got to the unit last year in June, I continued to go to doctors who kept sending me for a loop, they thought i was crazy because xrays in my back and the mri was negative. They even had a command referral to mental health for depression (which i do not have). Finally, after i looked on the internet and did research on the symptoms i was having i figured it would be good to have an emg. So that is what they did. Sure enough they finally sent me to specialists who discovered what they think is CMT. But by that time, the pain had gotten so bad, I could hardly even walk. So, I told them i couldn't do my job (which was very physical at the time) and they brought me inside to the office to work. Since then, the disease has pretty much stablizied with that and ultram the medicine i take. But, I am still scared and I do not know what the army plans to do with or for me>.... My commanding officer is a jerk, by the way, lol! Thanks so much for your interest. Email me back with any comments. Thanks.
