Hi Toby - As an AFO wearer - you will find that they are a great help. I

have worn mine now for two and a half years and just finished designing my

second pair (I thought of bright pink with silver and purple racing stripes -

but settled on beige).

This is great, Crafty, I can tell you're a creative person. After reading the

many posts on the subjects, I realized that AFO's are ankel braces, but are

all of you referring to a particular kind? My husband has been wearing Active

Ankles for the last several years. He discovered them helping out with a

girls' high school volleyball team on which my cousin played. Before I met my

husband he was wearing woman's aerobic shoes to fit his small feet and for

the lightness that is necessary for his hips. They were supposedly ankle

support as well, but he wasn't buying good ones. Just Target specials. I

didn't know anything about CMT at the time, but I talked him into going to

the Nike outlet and trying on every shoe they own if he had to to find the

lightest, widest, and most functional shoe he could. Well, he did, and along

with the Active Ankles, he falls much less and and feels better walking. Now,

he just calls up Nike himself and asks what they're lightest shoe is with

ankle supports. LOL He's come a long way.
