Guest guest
Crafty Lin() It's been almost two years since my CMT confirmation have type 1A..but I realize with me it's a vanity issue..I wore hand and feet braces as a kid....very Forrest Gumpish and I was victim to some harsh taunts from my schoolmates and I'm still overly sensitive to the issue...that problem...I know I need to get over because I do realize that I'm putting my mobility in harms way.I'm sure that we've come a long way in 15/20 years and the type of AFO's have improved....and with my latest fall I should be investigating further..but pride has a wicked way of ambushing me...I'm going to speak w/my doctor when I get the chance...I really appreciate your input. fumi
Guest guest
- I went right into two AFO's, both hinged and both with extra support for my ankles within two months of my confirmation diagnosis. I have had no problems and am now on my second pair (lost too much weight for the first pair). With the extra support for my ankles I find that I am no longer twisting my ankles (which I could do while standing still!) and they do help with the foot drop. I still drive a regular vehicle and have no trouble, but it can sometimes be awkward going down stairs when I am tired - I kind of walk like enstein's monster! Hope this helps! Crafty Lin.
