Guest guest
Elan, Everyone I have ever talked to with HCV report the pain in the upper right quadrant. I, too, have a low tolerance to a variety of foods, and have had diarrhea for years. I had my gall bladder out and it seemed to help somewhat. It had lots of stones. Of course, the doctors think we are all crazy and see no justification for this pain. I, too, had normal enzyme levels, and still had the pain, diarrhea, gas, etc. I noticed drinking beer seemed to make my pain in my URQ worse. The only item on your list I am not familiar with is the temperature after eating. Your symptoms could be HCV related. Maybe you should see another doctor who can better diagnose you. Guest guest
I see Claudine is back, she can be much more helpful than me. but I will do a quick rundown. General Ill feeling...Yes Pains in muscles and joints...can be Hep C but check for Fibromyalgia..Lots of Dr's think it is a myth Confusion/Dizzziness..I attribute that to drugsalso being anzious too. Have your Dr check your Thyroid.........Take Care, Connie PS: Claudine is much more helpful. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi Elan, I am pretty sure that I have heard ALL of those symptoms decribed by people with HCV, maybe not all at one time. I'm not too sure on that running a temperature after a meal, but before I was diagnosed with HCV there were several times when I was running low grade fevers for no apparent reason. In fact, twice I wouldn't have even known except I went to one doctor for immunization updates and they took my temp and it was elevated, and another time I went to an ENT because my ears were ringing, and they said I had a low grade temp. I was experiencing some very mild nausea at these times and was really tired, so I thought I had really mild cases of the flu! Now I just assume it's the HCV causing it. Lately I've been having more and more trouble with nausea late at light especially, sometimes vomitting, and pain in the upper right abdominal quadrant, and cental area too, and a lot of bloating. I've wondered if it might be my gallbladder, since I do know I have a huge stone, althought it is free-floating. How have your liver function tests been in the past? What did he check besides ALT and AST? Have you ever had a biopsy? To me, just making a guess, it sounds like it could be the hepatitis. Your LFT can be normal even in advanced disease. There is also the possibility that you are not dealing with ONE problem, but something else too - like thyroid problems, food allergies, ... I don't know, I bet it could be a long list. I don't have a clue as to the health care system in France, but it really sounds like you need a better medical work up than what you've already had. And a liver biopsy too. I know sometimes it's much easier to say than to actually get this done. If I think of anything, I'll post it, but for the most part, it sounds an awful lot like stuff I've heard from others with HCV. Good luck! Guest guest
Hi Claudine, I run a low grade temp when I am on Meds 100 degrees, so I attribute it to the meds. I was getting the nausea too, and I have a large free floating gall stone. You need to try Ginger Root for the nausea someone I talked to his wife took it. The bloating I have also in spleen/liver area __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I have tried ginger before and it does help. I REALLY like ginger snaps, and they work too. But then I eat too many, lol! I run the temps occasionally even though I'm not on any medications. I think it's just the HCV. I am usually feeling extra tired then, and some nausea too (not like the sudden, late night stuff I've been having lately), and I think when that happens I am having a flare-up. I've read they happen 3 or 4 times a year on the average, and that is probably how often it happens. --- Constance Dickson <constance_clearwater_florida@...> wrote: > Hi Claudine, I run a low grade temp when I am on > Meds > 100 degrees, so I attribute it to the meds. Guest guest
Hi Elan that's just what I've got, except I have no idea where my URQ is! I went undetectable during treatment, which i finished a few weeks ago, and as soon as i stopped the peg combo i got temperature rises after eating, also when I need to eat I feel very cold. I think there is still a lot left to learn about HCV, perhaps the liver abnormalities are no more than signs of the disease, rather than the seat of it. I feel better when I eat a macrobiotic diet, I hope this will eventually balance the hot/cold sensations because before treatment I switched to a macrobiotic diet and they went away along with the sickness and migraines. love Sylv A Mystery! > Hello everyone, > I wanted an opinion on this situation: > I went to a GI doctor here in France and told him that I was HCV > positive and that I had known for 10 years. Guest guest
Elan, As I'm sure you know, Hep C causes a myriad of symptoms. I also had / have: General illness feeling - classic hcv Pain in muscles and joints - classic hcv confusion/dizziness - yup yup classic temperature after meals - I haven't noticed this one, i usually run a small temp when I over do things low tolerance to a variety of foods - yeah I developed a few intolerances, like to my fave ice cream! constant loose stools - especially when I get tired anxiety - I get upset easier than normal, harder to calm down Pain in the URQ - used to before treatment BUT ........... a big but (mine hahaha) Those could be other symptoms also, like gall bladder maybe? Is there a county hospital where you are who takes patients and lets them pay based on their salary? We have those in the bigger cities here. Elan, I didn't have insurance for a long time either and had hep for 10 years and did nothing about it. I have very little liver damage but lots of symptoms. This could be you as well. Until you get into a position where you can afford a biopsy, I would concentrate on easing your symptoms with things like rest, lots of water, no alcohol, not overdoing it but still some kind of excercise, reduce stress, eat well. I'm no doctor, but I think those are just common sense things to do. I know how you feel tho. I was worried for many years that my liver was dying, but when I did get insurance and did get a biopsy, my liver was not that bad, just the hep gave me a lot of symptoms. And, don't let HCV blind you to other problems that could be arising, like gall bladder, kidney problems, or intestinal problems or whatever. Get your whole body checked out if you can. Elan.. good luck!!! I know how frustrating it is!! You might consider keeping a journal of how you feel each day and when, and what you ate, drank, etc. Then after a few weeks, see if you notice any constant culprits (certain foods, etc) that bother you and eliminate them. Just my thots Elan. Let us know what happens! alley

Guest guest
Hi Elan Hep C causes a myriad of symptoms. Now financial I can steer you where you need to go. I am not trying to be nosy. You evaluate at your end. 1. Are you married or is someone there. 2. is your income below or at $900 per month. 3.Can you or do you get foodstamps? 4.Chilren in the home, in school if 19 and above 5.The foodstamps here determines,if you can considered Indigent, don't ask me why they just do it. Same as the health department here. For an example Pinellas Couty social services FL, weas setting up insurance for me and also a check each month Check was $300 something they also paid part of rent etc...you are probably wondering why didn't I stay there, Well I was penniless and could not cope, was first time on treatment. Went and stayed at parents cabin in Inverness. I could not hold on till the stuff came through, I was being evicted. Jewish Family services helped me out a bit. Apache Pat and The Sames hekped me with the some od the expense of moving. May G_D rest her soul. A really radical difference here than there. I was waiting on the LTD to go trough, Had to fight former employers lies, for the LTD to go through, took six months. But HOORAY when it did go through. You have to fight for anything you can get, belive me I know. So get out there and find what you can. If I think of more, like I just did at the moment. Get in touch with Hepatitus Neighborhood, and/or Schering Company. Call your health department/Social Services and see what they have that can help you. Here they go by the $900 there also(Health Department). Hope this has been some help to you.
