Hello All,

I know many of you have battled with SSI. Any advice. I have been in

cronic pain for 10 years and just had my second surgery. I am not sure

when I can get back to work and money is running out!

Thank you all,

Ded

Ded, this has been covered several times. Please go to the main page

of our group on and do a search. In the meantime, you

want to apply as soon as possible. The time to get approved varies

from state to state. Some lucky ones on this forum got approved in 6

months. For me it took about 2.5 years in PA. You can't be working

at all to apply and to win your case. It helps to have a lawyer who

is skillled in SSI cases. They only get paid when you win and their

fees are capped. You need to have all of the medical records you can

muster to back up your claim. Unfortunately only tests and Doctor

reports from the time you file on forward are considered. So you

seem like me. I had years of records, but none counted before I

filed. Then I had to do them all over again. Hopefully others will

reply, but please do the search, and please start your filing

ASAP. You don't need a lawyer to open a case file, just contact your

local SS office for the paperwork. Good luck, Dave
