Guest guest
Hi and Joyce, Why do you feel an ankle fusion might help you? You don't have a problem with turning ankles and you don't need to have your weight distributed over the whole foot, which in essence ankle fusions do. What is your doctor saying? Would the AFO correct your gait? I don't mean to discourage you in having an ankle fusion but an ankle fusion is forever, and alternatives might be the way at this time. The alternative I had was to wear braces that would over a period of time staighten my foot out, but I would have some pain as the braces were adjusted each time. I was 63 yrs young at the time and retired. I didn't want to spend my retirement enduring pain and I had no mountains to climb. As I had said in a earlier post, I'm glad I had the fusion. but it was right for me. E
